“It’s too late. Esther is already in the operating room,” Jasper said with a pained expression. “Mandy said if Esther didn’t donate her liver as promised, she would cancel the surgery anytime. You know…”
Kevin’s expression darkened as he growled, “Mandy truly is a Pendleton. They’re all the same…”
To prevent Kevin from saying more, Jasper volunteered. “You’ll take care of Bradley. I’ll check on Esther. She’s alone, and I’m worried.”
“Go ahead. Keep me updated.”
“Okay.”
Jasper quickly left and headed to Esther’s operating room at Maria Hospital.
“Excuse me, I’d like to know about Esther Quill’s surgery…”
The nurse glanced at Jasper, looking impatient. “She’s in surgery. If you want information, please wait here.”
“Alright, thank you.”
Jasper sat down outside the operating room, staring at the “In Operation” sign. He only got up when the door opened.
“Esther-” When he saw Mandy’s face, he awkwardly stepped back. “Sorry, I mistook her for someone else.”
