Chapter 614
Kevin didn’t worry about Bradley but had concerns for Esther. He went straight to Esther’s hospital room.
Esther had just woken up. When she saw Kevin, she asked hoarsely, “Jasper, how’s he… How’s he doing?”
“Awake!” Kevin replied with frustration. “Esther, are you letting love cloud your judgment? Was what you did worth it for one
man?”
It would’ve been fine if Bradley appreciated Esther’s kindness, but he didn’t. Even as an outsider, Kevin felt for Esther.
“Kevin, he’s ultimately Felix’s father.”
Kevin couldn’t bring himself to be harsher with Esther. He sighed. “You’re too kind-hearted. Don’t worry. His surgery went well, and there haven’t been complications so far.
“It’s you who needs to take care of yourself. Stop obsessing over him. Esther, you have to realize that if something happens to you and Bradley marries someone else, Felix might have to call another woman his mother. If he’s lucky and gets a kind stepmother, that’s fine. But if he gets someone like Liliane, you can’t imagine how she’ll treat him.”
Jasper gave Kevin a discreet thumbs-up in approval.
“I came here to tell you that he’s doing well. Jasper will take care of you, and I’ll look after Bradley.”
Esther expressed her gratitude. “Thank you, Kevin.”
Kevin sternly looked at Esther and advised, “Love yourself more and love others a bit less, okay?”
He shook his head and left.
Esther stopped Kevin before he left and asked, “Kevin, did Bradley tell you where my daughter is?”
“No.” Kevin paused, then looked at Esther’s worried face and said quietly, “I think only Cole knows about your daughters. But there’s been no news of him since he fell into the river. I’m afraid he might not have survived.”
Esther frowned, holding back her grief. “But he said… my daughter is doing well.”
“Bradley?” Kevin recalled Bradley’s bizarre behavior and said slowly, “It’s possible. After all, he thinks differently from most people. He always likes to be in control. But I vaguely remember he has an aunt living abroad, though I’m not sure which country. Maybe you can look into that.”
Jasper volunteered to help. “Esther, if you trust me, I can investigate your daughter’s situation. For now, your priority is to rest and recover.”
“I agree with Jasper,” Kevin added. “If your daughter is with Bradley, there’s no need to worry. He probably won’t harm her. He’ll likely just use her whereabouts as leverage.”
Jasper nodded. “Those are his children, and he’s been good to Felix all these years. He mistakenly believed your daughters weren’t his previously. Now that he knows the truth, he’ll cherish her. He won’t hurt her.”
“That’s right. So, take care of yourself…”
