Esther sat in Clark's car, thinking about Jolene's threat. She had warned that she would take off with the child if Esther spoke the truth.
Esther found Jolene's naivety amusing. She had already told Jolene that only people who genuinely cared about her would be interested in her well-being. Bradley was a prime example. He had never cared about Esther—her happiness or misery meant nothing to him.
Maybe it was a case of "birds of a feather", but Esther didn't want Jolene to endure what she had during her pregnancy.
"Mommy, Grandpa Clark said Sunshine and Jacob are coming. Is that true?" Felix asked.
"Yeap!" Esther smiled at Felix, who was securely buckled into his safety seat beside her. "Are you excited?"
"I'm super happy." Felix was an obedient and adorable child.
He spotted a fancy boutique outside the car window and said, "Mommy, can we get gifts for Jacob and Sunshine?"
"Absolutely."
Since Felix hadn't grown up with Esther, she always tried to spoil him. After all, he was her own child. As a mother, it was only natural to want to indulge him.
Esther held Felix's hand as they entered the boutique. It was filled with exquisite gifts. Felix's eyes lit up when he spotted a sun-shaped ornament.
"Mommy, I want to give this to Sunshine!" Felix pointed at the cute sun ornament with excitement.
"You've got great taste." Esther turned to the sales assistant and said, "Could you show us that sun ornament, please? Thank you."
The sales assistant had been engrossed in her phone and didn't pay much attention to Esther and Felix's entrance. She replied indifferently. "This ornament is quite expensive. You probably can't afford it."
Felix puffed up his little chest and declared, "Who says I can't afford it? I'm super rich!"
