Xara knew that highly skilled doctors often had their own quirks. She had hoped that Agatha, Esther's mentor, would be different. But it turned out there were no exceptions to the rule.
"Okay, let's go now," Xara said.
When Esther returned to the courtyard with the children and ingredients for lunch, Steffan and Xara had already left.
"Grandma Agatha, where did they go?" she asked.
Agatha was busy sorting through the medicine cabinet, selecting herbs for Jacob.
"They've left," she said, handing a bundle of prepared medicine to Esther. "The larger bundle is for Jacob's bath tonight. Brew the smaller one immediately for him to drink."
From that day forward, Esther and the kids stayed at Agatha's clinic. Agatha patiently taught her medical techniques daily with the two young kids by her side. This simple, day-to-day existence brought back a tranquility Esther had long forgotten.
Chadwick didn't want to upset Agatha either, considering her invaluable medical skills. They also hoped Esther could maintain a good relationship with her, especially since they had supported Agatha during her previous imprisonment.

When Jolene learned about Esther's current life, she became envious and decided to visit.
"Esther, he's agreed that I can keep the baby, but he says we must send it away after birth." Jolene was thrilled. She knew better than anyone that her child would not be sent away if she could buy some time.
As Esther looked at the youthful Jolene, she couldn't help but reflect, 'Love can truly torment a person.'
When she was Jolene's age, she had also dreamed of becoming Bradley's wife and having his children.
What had she gained from it?
