Alice went out with William. A significant number of bodyguards followed to protect them closely.
On the contrast, only a few guards remained in the old house.
"It was Captain Lin and four others."
One of the bodyguards answered.
"Ask them to come here, now!"
William spoke without any hesitation. Then, he took Alice's hand and walked a bit further, and stood under a tree to take in some fresh air.
"Alice, are you tired? You can get on the car first and take some rest."
William looked at Alice and asked.
Alice shook her head, "It's ok. I want to know what happened."
If someone set the fire on purpose, it should have been noticed by the bodyguards immediately, and the old house would not be burnt to ashes with nothing left.
Within a few minutes, five bodyguards walked over dejectedly. All of them lowered their heads and did not even dare to make a sound.
William was standing under the tree. The sunlight came between the leaves and shade on his face. His expression was so cold and dark that anyone was afraid of enraging him.
"Why are all of you keeping silence now? Are you acting a silent play? " William pulled on his sleeves and glared at the five bodyguards with no emotion in his eyes. His voice was cold but also filled with anger, "Give me a proper explanation."
Each word was sharp when they came out from William's mouth.
When William finished asking, one of the bodyguards knelt, "I am sorry, Mr. Gong. It was all my fault. There was a person who pretended to be Mrs. Gong's neighbor and he said he brought some food for Mrs. Gong, so I let him come inside. I swear I was keeping my eyes on him for the entire time, and I did not know when he started the fire. I am extremely sorry; it was all my fault!"
"Boom!"
William raised his leg and kicked the bodyguard with extreme anger, "What kind of trash are you? How could you let someone you don't know get in simply?"
The guard did not dare to sit up although he was kicked onto the ground and was trembling. Alice stopped William, "It must be because Mr. Bacon delivered some food over earlier and you let him in. Otherwise, they would not let any old neighbors come in just like this."
Hearing Alice spoke up for them, the bodyguards nodded their heads, "Exactly. Mr. Gong, we really do not know what to do."
William glanced at Alice, then glared back at the bodyguards. His voice was cold as ice, "What does that man look like?"
"Mr. Gong, we took a picture of this man at the beginning just in case. Please look."
The bodyguard knelt on the ground, took out his phone, and gave it to William.
There was a picture in the phone.
William looked at the phone and took it over. Alice leaned over and saw a hunchbacked old man with sparse and white hair. His beard nearly covered half of his face, but Alice could still tell who the man was from his look.
It was Zed.
Alice stared at the photo and did not know how to react. She said in a low voice, "My adoptive father is taking his revenge on us."
"You have nothing to do with them anymore!" William threw the phone back to the bodyguard, and looked at them coldly, "You may go and claim your salary, then you are all fired!"
The bodyguards did not dare to beg for William's mercy although their faces were pale.
"William, to be honest, they were only guessing what you meant to do, so I do not think it's such a big mistake." Alice was trying to say something good forthem.
"I do not object to those who try to guess my intentions, but I will not give any mercy to those who do not accomplish their missions." William sounded emotionless, as there was no room for further discussion. He coldly glanced at the bodyguards, "Why are you still here?"
"We are sorry, Mr. Gong."
The five bodyguards left desperately.
Alice looked at William. William seemed to be much stricter to their servants than he was before. She frowned as she looked at the guards leaving, "I don't understand why my adoptive father want to take his revenge on us, this is also his old house."
How could he just set a fire and burnt this place?
"It is not strange. I humiliated him in front of all his neighbors before, and since he knew that we are staying at his house, so I can understand why he got angry." William was not surprised at this result.
"So, he is trying everything he can to burn us to death? And he even burnt the house although we were not inside?" Alice did not know what to say, "He hates us, but what he did to me also upset me for a long time."
Her past had troubled her for the entire time.
Zed was her foster father, and he was also the person who destroyed her relationship with her biological parents and brothers.
"I'll handle him." William said coldly and pulled her into his arms, "Alice, you don't have to worry about it, it's even a waste of your energy to think about them."
Alice did not know what to say. She looked in the direction of their old house. There was nothing left except the ruins after the fire.
Before she recovered from the sadness, Mr. Bacon ran to them from the crowd and shouted, "Alice, William, you should go out and see what is going on."
"What's wrong, Uncle Bacon?"
Alice asked. What happened again?
There was never an end, wasn't it?
"Just come with me and check it by yourselves. What is going on with you and your parents?" Mr. Bacon said to Alice and William as he ran outside.
William put his arms around Alice, and they walked out together. A crowd of bodyguards followed behind them, and many neighbors followed them to see what was happening outside.
