As if fate itself wanted to set things in motion, the time had come. Laura, Lucius, and Maximus left the house together.
The younger siblings saw them go, but they didn’t think much of it. Lately, the three of them had been leaving without saying where they were going, so this time didn’t seem any different.
Laura was nervous—more nervous than when she went to talk to Adrian. She knew this conversation would define many things and reveal the truth of the situation.
Even though she was confident that her brother would choose his family over a painful reality, she also knew that Paul was still a teenager. And at that age, emotions could be unpredictable.
"Laura… Relax, sweetheart," Maximus said, glancing at her through the rearview mirror.
"I'm fine, Dad!" Laura replied, avoiding his gaze.
"Lau, sis, everything will be okay. Just try to stay calm and listen," Lucius reassured her.
Laura sighed, trying to distract herself. The café was about 40 minutes away with traffic, which gave her plenty of time to reflect on yesterday’s conversation.
Adrian had seemed completely different from the man she once knew. She couldn’t lie—it hurt. It really hurt to think that he was with someone else now. And if she was brutally honest with herself, what hurt the most was her pride.

[Meanwhile, at the Brown & George Residence]
Alice was a complete mess, drowning in tears. Her conversation with her grandfather the night before had left her frustrated and furious.
"That bastard! Damn you, Grandpa! Why the hell won’t you just die already?" Alice sobbed in frustration.
In the study, Adrian was trying to process everything that had happened.
