"Well, Laura, things aren't that simple... but I'll figure something out. And with all this, what are you doing at the hospital? Who's taking care of Adele? Is something wrong? Is someone in your family here? Are you okay?"
"Wow... That's a lot of questions. But yeah, everything's fine. Emma's watching Adele. I came to the hospital for my sister. Actually, I'll be leaving soon. My sister just had her baby, and I came to visit. My aunt and I just came down for some coffee."
"I haven't slept much. Honestly, I'm exhausted. I had my end-of-semester exams."
"You're studying?" Adrian asked, curious.
"Yeah, I want my daughter to see that I can be more than just the daughter of a rich guy. When she grows up, she should know she can be independent and that anything's possible—with effort and a few sacrifices," she said confidently.
"Wow... There's no doubt your daughter's really lucky," Adrian said, clearly impressed by her words.
"Thanks! I try to be a good person so she can learn that from me."
"I think Adele must feel very, very lucky to have you as her mom."
"I know I don't really have the right to ask this... but I wanted to know—could I ever see her? I know things don't look good for me right now, but I promise it won't always be like this."
"I've got some savings, and that's how I've been getting by. I'm looking for a new job, and believe me, I'm going to keep trying to be better every day so she can feel proud of me too."
"Adrian... I think, right now, your life's way too full of drama. That's something I don't want around my daughter. I'm sorry, but you have to understand—I don't want Alice anywhere near her. And if she finds out Adele's our daughter, I don't even want to think about what she might try."
"Alice already knows, but she's out of the country now, Laura. Her grandfather sent her to Spain."
