Chapter 0122
Once the declarations were signed, Alexia instructed the staff working for Judge Levett to let the two Preston siblings leave for any destination they chose. She made the transfer and headed straight to her grandfather’s office.
“Grandpa, I have excellent news! Albert Preston’s children signed the declaration. Tomorrow, during Catherine’s birthday celebration, we can proceed with Albert’s arrest,” Alexia announced, her sinister smile spreading across her face.
“Perfect, my dear! I knew you were the right person to handle the negotiations,” Frank said, placing his hands on her shoulders and kissing her forehead.
“Grandpa, one more thing. I don’t want the police to touch Mary Preston. She has to pay in a different way for stealing my time with Maximus. What better punishment than seeing her grandfather imprisoned, me marrying her ex–husband, giving him a child, and living a life of luxury while she’s stuck somewhere in Galea, forgotten and alone.”
“My dear, I’m so proud of you. You’ve learned the path you must take. That girl is no match for you. And that she’ll be utterly alone, with no one to help her, she’ll pay the price for dreaming above her station,” Frank replied with satisfaction.
“But Grandpa, she’s not entirely alone. Catherine and Peter still support her–they always do,” Alexia said, pouting
“I’ll handle Catherine. You know she still owes me for what she did to us in the past. If I’d stayed with the company, your grandmother wouldn’t have left with Lucius, and your father wouldn’t have suffered so much as a child.”
“I know, Grandpa, I know. That wretched woman cost me so much time waiting for Maximus to finally marry me.”
After a long conversation between Alexia and Frank, she left her grandfather’s office triumphant. It was time to return home and pack for the trip to Catherine’s birthday celebration. She couldn’t wait to see the chaos awaiting Mary and Catherine.
As Alexia happily drove back to her apartment, the situation took a grim turn at a nearby airport. In the VIP lounge, Mary’s father and aunt awaited their flight to freedom. But they would never board that plane. A mysterious man approached, ensuring that the two loose ends would be dealt with permanently.
“Sir, it’s done. These two won’t be talking anymore,” the man said over the phone.
“Excellent, Theodore. That leaves only Albert Preston and Marcus Bartz. But we’ll take our time hunting down the latter. Tomorrow, Albert will be on a flight to Hesperia, where the defrauded families will handle his welcome.”
“Yes, sir.”
When Alexia arrived home, she found Maximus on the balcony, smoking a cigar.
“Where were you, Alexia? It’s too late for you to be out alone, especially driving in your condition!**

Maximus scolded, his tone sharp.
“Maximus, darling! I was visiting my grandfather. You’ve met him; he doesn’t take no for an answer.” “Yes, Alexia, but you’re not alone anymore. There’s the baby, and there’s me. If he wants to see you, he can come to the apartment,” Maximus sald, visibly annoyed.
“Calm down, love. It won’t happen again. Besides, once we’re married, I’ll ask him to visit us at the mansion. He’ll be more comfortable there.”
For some reason, Alexia’s mention of the mansion irritated Maximus. That house held deep personal significance. It was where his parents had raised him and where his grandmother had moved after his father took over the company when his grandfather left them in ruins.
