“Yes, sir. They’re almost done. This will be their only day here. Would you like to retreat to your study? I’ll make sure no one disturbs you.”
“Fine. Make sure I’m left alone,” Marcus replied, heading to the room that had been designated as his study.

“Come on! It’s the end of the term. No one will notice until we’re already gone.”
“But we’ll have to come back eventually!”
“Life’s too short not to take chances, don’t you think?
“I regret teaching you that phrase. You use it for everything…”
Marcus’s eyes were closed as he relived the moment, but the sound of the door opening snapped him. back to reality. Frederick stepped in, his expression serious.
“Sir, I’ve just learned that Mr. Albert Preston passed away in Valentia during his arrest
“What? Who told you
you that?”
“It’s on the news,” Frederick replied, turning on the television.
