The company was now under the sole control of Maximus Palmer, as Leonardo Palmer had retired following Peter’s death. At 73 years old, Leonardo wanted nothing to do with the business. The farther he could stay from it, the better, as far as he was concerned.

Then came the news that shattered Valerie’s resolve to stay away. Marcus uncovered information that Peter’s death had not been an accident. Reports suggested someone had tampered with the car he was traveling in. The questions multiplied. Who had done it? Who would want Peter dead? And why hadn’t they learned of this sooner? The answer to the last question was clear: Maximus Palmer That man had buried the truth to avoid scandal. Revealing the investigation’s findings would have been a feast for the media and a disaster for the family’s reputation. It was then that Valerie made her decision: they would move to Valentia. But only if their family’s safety could be guaranteed.
