Chapter 0277
“Lucius,” Bartz said in a disturbingly calm volce. “You said you’d help me, didn’t you?”
“Yes… Just let me down. Everything hurts,” Lucius replied, his voice cracking with pain.
“You’re just a kid, but you want to play adult games. Fine. ll give you your chance,” Bartz said, his tone almost patronizing as if speaking to a reckless child.
“How do
“How do you know my name? Who told you? How do you know my uncle?” Lucius asked desperately.
Bartz pulled the bag off Lucius’s head and grabbed him by the hair, forcing him to look up.
“I ask the questions here. I’m the one in charge, and you’re the one who owes me 700 million. Don’t forget that!” Bartz said as he loaded a gun and attached a silencer.
“I can pay you! My father is a very wealthy man in Valentia, I don’t have it now, but he can pay you. If you kill me, you’ll lose the money. If I live, he’ll cover it,” Lucius stammered, trembling with fear.
“Well, well! I thought all those years with Levett would’ve taught you something, but I see you’re just a sniveling kid. Imagine what your great–grandfather would say if he saw you like this! Oh, wait… I suppose he wouldn’t say much he barely speaks these days–but he’s still a grouchy old man.”
“I’m telling you, my father can pay you what I owe!” Lucias said, trying to negotiate his release.
Marcus Bartz had been tracking Frank Levelt’s movements for years. One day, he discovered that Frank had started dabbling in business deals with people from the Emirates, copying strategies he had uncovered in Marcus’s operations. Marcus couldn’t allow that, He decided to target brokers working for Levett, sabotage their deals, and make him lose millions. What Marcus didn’t anticipate, however, was stumbling upon Lucius–an unexpected bonus to his plans.
After observing Lucius for a few days, Marcus decided to hire him. The kid had raw talent and decent instincts, but he was still green. Marcus already had several of Levett’s lackeys in his grip–men with bad reputations, shady pasts, and plenty to hide. No one would miss them if they disappeared… except Frank Levett.
“You know, it’s funny,” Marcus said with a smirk. “I heard you were as ruthless as your great–grandfather, but all I see is a spoiled little boy. What you’ve got is rebellion, not character! You’ve disappointed me, Lucius.”
“How do you know me? Who are you?” Lucius asked, anger flickering through his fear.
“Cut him down,” Marcus ordered sternly. “I know exactly how you’ll pay me back. You’re going to do something
for me.”
Lucius was lowered from where he’d been hanging. His body ached, and his head spun after being upside down for
so long.
“Come here,” Marcus said, gesturing. “Don’t be afraid, Lucus. See those men over there?” He pointed to three men bound and beaten. “They’re the ones responsible for your little disaster. They each owe you something. 1 could take care of them myself, but that wouldn’t be fair. 1 con’t need them, but you do. They owe you 700 million, so now’s the time to collect. I want their heads. If you deliver them, your debt is forgiven. But if you don’t …you’ll end up in their shoes. Either way, they’re not leaving here alive. So, decide–you or them?” Marcus said, placing a gun in Lucius’s trembling hands.
Without a second thought, Lucius aimed and fired. Marcus didn’t flinch; he knew the boy wasn’t as soft as he
