Chapter 0614
Late into the night, Marcus and Valerie had moved to the bedroom they had once shared a month ago. She couldn’t deny how much she had missed the warmth of her husband’s body. Having him there again made her feel safe, protected. Feeling Marcus’s large, strong hand resting on her belly caused the babies to move more than usual. She wasn’t sure if it was from excitement or because he was taking up their space.
Valerie struggled to open her eyes, but her drowsiness faded when Marcus gently squeezed her belly and began kissing her neck, sending shivers through her entire body. He traced a path of soft kisses from her neck to her collarbone, then down to her full breasts. He kissed her beautiful, bare belly, pausing when he reached her hips and thighs. Marcus seemed ravenous for her, his touch igniting a fire within her. Hormones surging, Valerie surrendered completely, letting herself be carried away by Her husband’s every move.
After some time, Marcus scooped her up and carried her to the bathtub. He bathed her gently, just as he had when they were together. The entire experience felt like a dream to Valerie, and if it was, she never wanted to wake up. When they finished, Marcus dressed her in a nightgown and let her sleep until well into the morning.
Camille and Emma exchanged knowing smiles as they saw Marcus leave Valerie’s room. Marcus, caught off guard, scratched the back of his neck and adjusted the collar of his jacket.
“If you’re looking for John, we already took him to school. Don’t worry,” Emma said. “But maybe you should take breakfast to Valerie. Remember, she shouldn’t skip meals.
Marcus’s face turned crimson as he tried to escape their amused looks. He headed to the kitchen and prepared the breakfast they’d suggested. Then, tray in hand, he returned to Valerie’s room, unsure of how she would react now that it was daylight. To his surprise, she was already awake, standing by the window.
“Hi… I brought you breakfast,” Marcus said hesitantly, unsure if she’d be upset.
“I woke up and thought you’d left already…” Valerie replied with a touch of nostalgia.
“No, I just went to get you something to eat.”
“That looks delicious! Will you join me?”
Marcus smiled, placing the tray on the small table in the room. They both sat on the bed and devoured the food. Their night had been long, and their hunger showed. Marcus watched fondly as Valerie ate, amused by her hearty appetite. It was clear the twins were taking everything their mom had to offer.
“Marcus, what are we going to do now?” Valerie asked, breaking the silence.
“What do you want us to do now?” he replied calmly.
“I don’t want you to leave. Stay with me, please!”
Marcus smiled, taking Valerie’s hand and kissing her palm He gazed into her eyes and said, “If that’s what you want, nothing would make me happier than being by your side again. I love you, I miss you, and I want you to forgive me for the huge mistake I made.”
“I think we both made mistakes. Don’t take all the credit,” Valerie teased.
She stood up, positioning herself in front of him as he sat on the edge of the bed, so they were at eye level. Leaning in, she kissed him passionately. Marcus wrapped his arms around her tightly, almost squeezing the breath out of her.
“Ease up! You’re going to suffocate me!” she laughed.
“Let’s go pick up John together. He’ll be so happy to see us” Marcus said, grinning.
“I’m happy you’re back home too! I’ll never do anything to hurt you again, Marcus.”
“I’m the one who should be saying that, Val.”
“No, Marcus. I was the one who hurt you and caused all of this.”
“Let’s just agree we both acted like a couple of fools,” Marcus said with a chuckle.
“Yeah, that’s exactly what happened. Now, officially, we’re divorced,” Valerie said sadly.
“That’s not entirely true. We still need to go to court in Hesperia to finalize everything.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, my lawyer told me we’d have to travel to Hesperia to complete the process.”
“Then you’re still stuck with me forever!”
“Well, you’re the one stuck with me in this life and the next.”
י
“Mr. Bartz, you’re mine, and you’re not allowed to leave this house anymore,” Valerie said playfully.
“Well, I still need to go to Frederick’s to pick up a few things. It’s not much, but I should also let him know I’m coming back home. He’ll probably give me an earful.”
Valerie laughed. “You’re old enough to avoid getting scolded!”
