Chapter 0637
Maximus arrived at Diana’s apartment just after 10:00 p.m. He knew she’d likely be asleep, but despite all his efforts to get there earlier, his day’s responsibilities kept delaying him. Still, he decided it was better to arrive late than not at all. Hesitant, he rang the doorbell. The lights were off, confirming his suspicion that she was already in bed. After a moment, he rang once more. Just as he was about to leave, the door creaked open.
“Maximus…” Diana greeted him groggily, rubbing her eyes
“Hi… I’m sorry. I tried my best to get here sooner…”
“Don’t worry about it. I was asleep.”
“Oh! If you’d prefer, we can meet another time.“–
“No, no. Come in. You’re here now,” she said, stifling a yawn as she stretched like a cat.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, come on,” she insisted, stepping aside to let him in.
“Alright… I didn’t mean to wake you.”
“It’s fine. It’s been a long day. When it seemed like you weren’t coming, I took a bath and went to bed early. I’d already been asleep for an hour. How was your day?”
“It went well. I went to see my brother. He’s the one who worries me. Recovering his memories has been unsettling for him. He used to seem so certain, but now… he feels adrift.”
“Maximus…” Diana said softly.
“I just don’t know how to help him.”
“I assume he’s seeing a doctor, right?”
“I guess…
“Why don’t you go with him? That way, you’d know how his health really is. If he’s handling it alone, he might be ignoring critical details. What he went through wasn’t a minor ordeal, Maximus. Before, he didn’t have your support, but now he does. He needs to know you care. You lost him once–don’t lose him again.”
Diana handed him a cup of coffee across the kitchen counter.
“This is something I missed about you,” Maximus said after a sip.
“What’s that?”
“Talking like this. Peacefully,” he said, reaching out to take her hand and pull her closer.
“I missed our conversations, too. Especially the ones at the lookout point,” Diana said with a smile. “Hey, have you eaten?”
“No. I haven’t had a chance. All I’ve had is breakfast from this morning.”
“Maximus! How could you? Let me lieat up some dinner for you. You can’t skip meals like this, What will happen to your kids if you get sick?”

position more comfortable.
“Celeste… are you awake?”
“What is it, Peter?” she asked softly.
“I’m sorry about what I said this morning. I shouldn’t have lashed out. I was upset about what the school did, and I just think it’s unfair. But more than that, I hate that you’re not fighting back. Still, I’ll respect your decision,” he said, sitting beside her and resting his head on her stomach.
Celeste ran her fingers through Peter’s wavy hair.
“I know you don’t understand, but I don’t want to create drama. I just want to recover and move on. I loved my job, but if going back isn’t possible, I’ll find another one. That’s how it’s always been for me.”
“You don’t need to work! Now that you’re with me, you’ll never want for anything,” Peter said, his arms tightening around her waist.
Celeste didn’t respond immediately. She could sense a change in him. Before coming to Slovenia, Peter had been confident and self–assured. Now, he seemed adrift and distant. Though he was still kind and affectionate, there were moments when he retreated into himself, shutting her out completely.
“Peter, I appreciate what you’re saying, but I’ve always worked to support myself. I don’t like relying on someone else or just holding out my hand.
