Chapter 0647
A finely carved wooden door creaked open. A hooded man entered, holding a camera. Without a word, he took pictures of her and recorded her, ignoring her desperate cries.
“Boss, I’ve sent you the pictures of the girl. The others haven’t woken up yet. I’ve got them separated, just as you ordered,” the man reported into a phone.
“Perfect,” came Leonardo’s voice on the other end. “Maximus… if you ever doubted my words, look at you now. Alone. Completely alone…”

“Matthew! Matthew! Are you okay? Can you walk?” Theodore asked anxiously.
“Y–yeah… I think so… Oh, God, they beat the hell out of me. Everything hurts… For a moment, I thought this was it for me,” Matthew groaned, struggling to stand.
“Come on! We have to get out of here before they realize their men are gone.
“W–what’s going on? What happened?” Matthew asked, wincing with every move. “Theodore… How did you know Leonardo was going to show up? Tell me!” he demanded, fumbling to remove his torn shirt in the
car.
“We’d been anticipating Leonardo’s move. He arrived in Valentia two days ago, and as soon as I was notified, I knew he’d begin executing Peter’s plan. That’s why, when saw them taking you, I followed the truck.”
“I was sure today would be my last day…
“No way. Peter would never forgive me if anything happened to you,” Theodore replied as he drove.
“Where are we going, Theodore?”
“We’re going to my house. Leonardo believes Peter is dead and buried, so it’s the safest place for now.”
“Maximus! Maximus’s in danger!”
“We have to trust that Leonardo can’t harm him. He needs Maximus as a front. If anything happens to him, Leonardo loses everything. Stay calm.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure… That man isn’t who he used to be. He’s completely unhinged now. We need to find out if Maximus is safe. Damn it! They nearly killed me to send me to the other side.”
“Relax. We’ll treat your wounds when we get home. I’ll send my people to locate Maximus immediately.”

Maximus, cornered and desperate, finally signed the document. But his mind was consumed by worry for his children, especially Serenity. The memory of Leonardo’s sly smirk lingered, a chilling reminder of the man’s malice. Leaving the building, he jumped into his car and sped toward his house, only to find it just as Leonardo -had warned–it had been seized. His children were nowhere to be found.
Gripping his phone, he called Leonardo with trembling hands,
“Where are my children?” Maximus demanded, his voice thick with anguish.
“I told you,” Leonardo replied smugly. “Sign the document and I’ll return them to you. They should be with Emma in the park near your house. Go find them.”
Maximus drove to the park at breakneck speed. He found Ema with Laura and Paul, but Serenity and Maurice were missing. Emma, disoriented, could only say she remembered falling asleep, after which everything went

“Damn it, Leonardo! Where are Serenity and Maurice?” Maximus shouted into the phone.
