Chapter 0662
Chapter 0662
[Redspire Residence]
Two weeks had passed quickly since Marcus’s arrest. Unfortunately for him, as long as Frank Levett Jr. continued to apply pressure on the government and the media spread stories about the Bartz family, he couldn’t get any kind of legal protection. Marcus felt anguished; his wife had to be scheduled for an emergency C–section, and her mental state was unstable. The poor man, realizing that he wouldn’t be able to get out of prison, had sent Frederick to find the doctor who had once treated Valerie.
The doctor still worked in Florentia, and there they learned that Valerie had never returned. She had only been in the facility for a month, after which she went back to Galea and never stepped foot in the hospital again. Marcus cursed Peter a thousand times, knowing that his carelessness would eventually take its toll on Valerie. A small spark would be enough to ignite everything. That young woman of 23, when she was admitted, wasn’t in bad shape, but now it was a different story.
Dr. Hill, once Mrs. Bartz gives birth, how long should she stay in the hospital?”
“She must rest during her quarantine, regardless of anything. Remember, she will be a mother, and we can’t take her away from her children abruptly. What I’ll do is go with you, and I’ll treat her at home. Poor woman. Anyone would think that after all these years, life might have changed for her, but she’s still stuck in the same place. I regret not insisting more with Mrs. Catherine Palmer.”
Dr. Hill, now 64 years old, was essentially the director of the psychiatric facility. When Frederick and Peter found her, the latter explained the story of the young woman and why she had never returned. The doctor was astonished to see how things hadn’t changed much in 20 years. She had expected the girl to continue her treatment; if that had happened, they wouldn’t be living with the consequences today.
Peter paid a considerable sum to the hospital to ensure that the same doctor would be the one to treat Valerie. He traveled back and forth between Slovenia and Valentia. Celeste was slowly improving, her recovery was painful and slow, but Peter remained vigilant about what was happening with Mary, though he tried not to get too close to avoid causing more problems.
[Westhaven, Valentia]
“Valerie, darling, how are you?”
“I’m fine, Camille! I’m fine! When will my children come to visit me?”
“Sweetheart, I’ll ask Frederick to bring them. You know they are being protected by him so nothing bad happens to them. You should be calm about that. We’ll need to coordinate their visit with Frederick. Are you nervous?” “No, Camille, I know it’s for the best for my babies. I’m not well, and if they want to give me–medication, I need to give birth first. I never thought I’d have to go through this again. Camille… there’s something I want to ask you….”
“Tell me, my dear…”
“I know Peter has come to see me, and don’t tell me he has ‘t. Tell him I want to talk to him, please!”
“Sweetheart, I don’t think it’s wise for you to ask that right now. You’re very confused…”
“Camille, don’t you think I need to clear some things up with him? The very thought that my husband is at murderer won’t let me rest. How many years did I spend with someone I didn’t really know? I know if there’s anyone who can clear this up, it’s Peter.”
“Sweetheart…”
“Please, as soon as he comes, ask him to talk to me. I hope can be before they admit me….

“I’ll do as you say, but I’m completely sure that the right person to clear up this matter isn’t Peter. It’s Marcus…”
