Chapter 0714
At least three weeks had passed, and Peter was at home with Celeste. Although he was physically present, something about him unsettled her. He seemed absent, retreating to his study for hours on end. Sometimes, Celeste wouldn’t see him all day. At night, he grew distant, making her feel like she was with a stranger.
Brock, who knew a little about Peter’s medical condition, was sometimes startled by his behavior.
“Sir, are you alright? You seem… distracted.”
“I’m fine. Why do you ask?”
“It’s just that Miss Celeste…”
Brock trailed off when he noticed the puzzled look on his boss’s face.
“Where’s Mary? Who is Celeste?”
“Sir… Miss Celeste lives in this house. She’s your…”
“My what?”
“She’s your partner now.”
“Brock, is that your name?”
“Yes, sir.”
“You’re mistaken. I only have one partner, and her name is Mary. I don’t know this woman living here. Please, Brock, ask her to leave. I don’t know what liberties she’s taken, but she is not my partner. Maybe she was a fling for a night, but that doesn’t give her the right to make false claims.”
Unfortunately, Peter said this at the exact moment Celeste was coming to find him. Hearing his words, she froze, utterly stunned. She had never heard Peter speak this way.
“Sir, I don’t know the person you’re referring to, but if that’s how you feel, perhaps tomorrow morning would be a better time to speak with Miss Celeste and, if necessary, ask her to leave. It wouldn’t be right to send her away at this hour.”
“Brock, tomorrow morning, I want her gone. Take care of it”
That night, Peter didn’t return to the bedroom. Instead, he stayed in his study, staring at pictures of Mary. For him, time had stood still. He still longed for the 23–year–old woman he had fallen in love with.
Celeste, meanwhile, was utterly confused. She thought it must be some kind of cruel joke. She barely slept, waiting for Peter to come to the bedroom and explain, but he never showed.
The next morning, Peter woke up with a splitting headache. He felt disoriented, looking around as if he didn’t recognize the space. Memories of Celeste surfaced, and he found himself wondering: why wasn’t he with her? What was he doing here?
Brock knocked on the door and found a man with a completely different demeanor–confused, conflicted, but unwilling to say much. This version of Peter seemed to understand what was happening.
“Brock, what am I doing here?”
“Sir, you didn’t want to sleep in your bedroom last night. You asked me to have Miss Celeste removed from the house. Do you still want me to do that?”
“Of course not. I would never ask that…”

Chapter 0714
“Well, you did. It seemed strange to me, so I didn’t follow through, but just tell me what you want us to do.”
“Tell the pilot to prepare the jet for a flight to Valentia today, as soon as possible. And thank you for ignoring that absurd order.”
After giving Brock a few more instructions, Peter went to look for Celeste, but she had gone for a walk on the beach. Feeling overwhelmed and ashamed, he decided not to see her. He didn’t want to confront the reality of what he might have done the day before.
On the way to the airport, Peter pulled out his phone and called his brother, Maximus. Seeing the call, Maximus answered immediately.
