Chapter 0851
Peter had his eyes closed. His brother was still sitting next to him, curious about what he might be thinking. He didn’t want to pressure him, so he waited for him to speak
“What do I do about Celeste?” Peter finally let out, his voice filled with worry.
“What? What do you mean?” Maximus asked, intrigued by the question.
“Yeah! I don’t know what to do with her. No matter how hard I try, I just don’t feel anything for her, and that worries me. She’s pregnant! Everyone says they’re my kids, but no matter how much I try, I can’t see myself with her. She’s the complete opposite of what I would’ve chosen”
Marcus told me something really important–I shouldn’t hurt her. She’s been here without fail… or at least she was, until I asked her to stop coming. She couldn’t stay in the hospital; it could be bad for her and the babies. I know I sounded harsh, but it was the only way to make her fest,” Peter said, adjusting himself in his seat.
“Oh, so that’s why she stopped coming…” Maximus replied, taking in the revelation.
Everyone thought Peter had been heartless, but deep down the Peter they all knew was still there. Or rather, he had always been there–it was just that no one knew how to deal with him now.
“Yeah, I knew she didn’t want to go home, and I had no choice but to be a little tough,” Peter said with a slight sigh. “But even so, I don’t know what to do about her. How am I supposed to act? I don’t know how to approach her, what to say, what to ask.”
“Well, I heard you’re getting discharged soon. I don’t know what your plan is, but you really need to think things through. From what I know and have seen, Celeste isn’t just any woman. She already left you once. According to Matthew and Theodore, you did everything humanly possible to win her back. So, we’re not talking about a girl you can win over with flowers and sweet words.”
“The funny thing is, she’s completely different from the kind of woman I’d choose as a partner,” Peter said with a small, wry smile.
“Maybe that’s exactly why you fell for her. Don’t you think!”
“Actually, I’ve always thought that… Mary was never your type, and yet, you were in love with her.‘
“She’s been on my mind too, but no matter how hard I try, I can’t seem to find anything there. If I think about a woman, the first one that comes to mind is Ekaterina.”
“Well, think carefully about what you’re going to do. Like it or not, Celeste is part of your life. Whether you remember her or not, she’s a part of you, and in no time, your kids will be here–ready or not.”
“How did you do it? Tell me…”
“In my case, things didn’t go well. The only child I was actually there for when he was born was Lucius, and look at me now–I don’t even know where he is. He doesn’t want me in his life, and I can’t even find him.”
