My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus) novel Chapter 857

Chapter 0857

After that brief conversation, Peter wrapped his arms around Celeste. She could feel the warmth radiating from him as his strong embrace surrounded her. It had been months since she had felt anything like this.

And yet, the man holding her now was nothing like the Peter she remembered. His warmth, his actions, everything about him felt unfamiliar. But deep down, she knew–her Peter was still in th somewhere.

The next morning, when Celeste woke up, Peter was no longer in the room. It was already past 10:00 AM, and the only reason she had woken up was because her stomach was growling with hunger.

She had fallen into a deep sleep the night before, and even now, she still felt incredibly well–rested. It was strange -Peter’s presence seemed to relax her in a way she hadn’t realized, even making her forget to eat.

As she replayed their conversation from the night before, she got up, took a shower, and planned to go find something to eat. But when she stepped out of the bathroom, Peter was already back in the room.

“Good, you’re awake,” he said, watching her intently.

That look made her a little self–conscious.

It was him–same body, same man–but his personality felt completely different.

“H–Hi…” Celeste stammered, caught off guard.

She was wrapped in a towel, which barely covered her growing belly. Peter’s gaze swept over her petite frame, lingering for a moment before he made a slight smirk.

“Need some help?” he asked, his tone unusual.

“Help with what?” she asked, her voice full of hesitation.

“Drying your hair. Come, sit down,” he said, gesturing for her to sit. “I went for a walk earlier. Alden, Serenity, and Ethan left the house really early–they went to the doctor. It’s funny… I still haven’t met my grandson, and I really want to see what he looks like,” Peter said with genuine excitement.

He took her hand, guiding her to sit. Celeste instinctively clutched her towel tightly, as if her life depended on it. Peter noticed the way she was tensing up.

He crouched in front of her, gently lifted her chin, and kissed her. It was warm, soft–almost tender.

“I know this won’t be easy,” he murmured once he pulled away. “But I’m trying to get used to this.”

He didn’t say it out loud, but ever since the night before, when he had seen her lying in bed, something inside him

had shifted.

A part of him recognized her.

She wasn’t a stranger–not completely.

The scent of roses that surrounded her brought him a sense of peace, something no medication had managed to do.

As he carefully dried her hair, Peter rested his hands on her bare shoulders and looked at her.

“Celeste, I want you to come with me somewhere,” he said

“Somewhere? Where?” she asked, curious.

“I want to go home. If we leave now, we’ll get there in two, maybe three hours.”

“Are you sure it’s safe for you to drive?”

“Of course. I already asked Dr. Wagner. Come on, it’s time to get out of here for a bit,” he said casually.

“Alright… but at least tell Alden or Theodore where we’re going. And where exactly are we going?”

“Home. I want to check on my house… and visit an old friend.”
