My Love Until the Last Goodbye (Mary and Maximus) novel Chapter 960

"Anthony Moriarty is a good man… It’s hard for me to admit it, and his methods are far from conventional, but I know he’s a good person. His wife, Angela… she lives up to her name. She’s an angel. She’s taken care of me, treated me like a brother. She’s a good woman," Lucius said sincerely.

"I know," Maximus nodded. "If it weren’t for her, I wouldn’t be here. I suppose life put her in your path so you’d finally know what it’s like to have a sane person in your life." His tone was so serious that, for a second, it was hard to tell if he was joking.

Lucius let out a soft chuckle before sighing. "So… what do we do now, Maximus?"

Without warning, Maximus pulled him into another embrace.

"We do whatever you want to do. I’m not going to impose anything on you," he assured him. "You’ll decide when you want to visit us—of course, it has to be when you’re free from school. And you’re right, I don’t want you neglecting that part of your life. Did you know Laura is studying remotely?"

Lucius raised an eyebrow. "Finally. What’s she studying? Because I doubt dance can be done online," he said, remembering how passionate she was about it.

"She went with economics. And she just told me she’s enrolling in a second degree—business administration," Maximus said proudly.

Lucius blinked in surprise. "Wow… Laura? Studying economics? I can’t picture that."

"Believe it. She says she wants to set a good example for her daughter. She wants to be someone important in a company one day," Maximus explained without hesitation.

Lucius was quiet for a moment before finally exhaling. "I do want to see her… I do want to see my siblings." His voice was firmer this time, accepting what he had been avoiding for so long. "Can I bring Amanda with me?"

"Of course!" Maximus said, his voice full of encouragement. "Now, we just need to break the news to our favorite grumpy man—Moriarty."

A sudden ahem made both men freeze.

They turned their heads simultaneously, only to see Anthony Moriarty standing in the doorway, arms crossed, watching them with narrowed eyes.

"Would either of you care to tell me… where my wife and daughter are?" he asked in that dangerously calm tone of his.

Lucius glanced around, suddenly realizing the absence. "Uh… well, she was here a few moments ago…"

"Uh-huh…" Moriarty muttered, pulling out his phone. "Darling? Where are you? I just came upstairs and ran straight into my walking headache, but you were nowhere to be found," he said as he stepped out of the room, talking to Angela.
