“You’re going to Florentia?” Peter asked. 

“Yes, just passing through. Then I’m heading back home. If you’re in a hurry, we can go together and finalize the details for the transfer.” 

After their exchange, Marcus left the office, closing the door behind him and the real fight began. 

“Grandma! What the HELL were you thinking? You bring in someone who might not even be a Bartz!” 

“Maximus! Are you implying I’m a llar?” Grandma asked, visibly irritated. 

“Mom,, you can’t deny that the sudden appearance of this gentleman is highly suspicious!”

“Leonard, do you also believe what your son is saying?” 

“Mom, at this point, I don’t know what to belleve anymore,” Leonard admitted, conflicted. 

“Peter, you fucking idiot! I curse the day you had to be my brother! You’re a fucking traitor!!! 

“Maximus!” Grandma yelled before collapsing. 

“Grandma!” Peter shouted, rushing to help her. 

It was shocking to see the eldest grandson, usually so composed, completely lose control and rage at his younger brother. 

“Get me some water, Peter,” Catherine instructed weakly. 

Peter eased her into a chair and ran to pour her a glass. For a moment, he wanted to hit Maximus but held back, seeing his grandmother in such a fragile state. 

“What’s all this commotion, Maximus? Can’t you see what you’ve done to your grandmother?” Leonard scolded. “Peter hasn’t accepted Marcus’s proposal! And like it or not, this is the reality–we’re part of a group and need to act like one.” 

Hearing his father’s words left a bitter taste in Maximus’s mouth. 

“Then I have no choice. I’m leaving and cutting ties with this family entirely,” Maximus said, heading for the door. 

**Maximus! If you walk out that door, never set foot here again!” Leonard shouted angrily. 

“Father, as for Marcus’s request–no, I won’t accept it! I have more important things to do than lead a company I owe nothing to. My priority is helping Mary. I won’t pretend to be the president when I was never considered before.” 

“Mary is MY wife!” Maximus yelled in frustration. 

“For now, Maximus. For now. Soon she’ll divorce you, and there’s nothing you can do to stop it. You should start a new life with the woman you love and the child she’s carrying. 

“Peter, please stop! Just take me home. It’s been a long day, and I need to rest,” Catherine interjected, breathing deeply.
