As she touched down, it was morning in Mailand.
Athena stopped by a pharmacy on the street and purchased a box of fever-reducing medicine. After taking it, she headed straight to Imbe Group.
Upon arriving at Imbe Group, Athena called for a high-level meeting.
By "high-level", she was referring to the trusted deputy managers of Byron.
"You probably know." She began. "Mr. Crawford's previous injuries were quite severe. He hasn't fully recovered, and recently, there have been complications. After discussing, we've decided to delay Mr. Crawford's return to the company."
The deputy managers exchanged glances, none speaking up.
Continuing, Athena said, "We've consulted with several experts, and Mr. Crawford has gone abroad for treatment. We're unsure of his return date. For now, he's arranged everyone's tasks during his absence. Until there's a significant change, we'll proceed as such. Is everyone okay with this?"
"Miss Newton, rest assured." Charles quickly responded, "Mr. Crawford had mentioned earlier that if his old injuries acted up, and he couldn't work, we should follow your instructions."
Athena lowered her eyes, hiding her emotions.
Byron, sensing he might be consumed by his troubling visions, reminded himself that if he became bad or unwell, she shouldn't stay with him.
He also instructed his confidants to follow Athena's directions.
Athena stood up. "Everyone, it's been a tumultuous year for both Byron and me, especially with the rapid growth of Imbe Group. Thank you all for your consistent support. Once we get through this final hurdle, Byron and I will make sure to repay you." With that, Athena bowed slightly to the managers.
Liam was the first to react, hastily standing up. "Miss Newton, what are you doing? Mr. Crawford and you have shown us great kindness and promoted many of us. We're just doing our duty!"
The rest echoed in agreement.
Athena didn't say much more.
In the end, loyalty from subordinates was a fickle thing. It could change in a moment or with a single word.
The choice was theirs.
But Athena felt gratitude should never be taken for granted.
After the meeting, Athena prepared to leave.
Evie, knowing she was back, had been busy all morning preparing a nourishing meal for her.
Liam accompanied Athena to the parking garage, updating her on work matters along the way. He didn't ask about Byron's current condition.
As they reached the garage, Athena's phone rang.
Glancing at the screen, she saw an unfamiliar number.
Answering, she heard, "Mrs. Crawford? It's Gerry Craig, an attorney. Do you remember me?"
"Gerry?" Athena thought for a moment, finding the name familiar.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup
I am at Chapter 550 and there are almost 2 stories in 1. Aron and Evie's story could very well have been made into another story. Such a waste of time because I am reading for Byron and Athena, not Evie and Aron...
Is there no new updates after this one?...
