"Knowing what she had done to her daughter-in-law, I was disgusted with her," Athena replied honestly.
Byron thought of Lola slapping Athena in the care home before.
"You won't have conflicts with your mother-in-law in the future." Byron kissed the tip of her nose. "If you don't like her, I won't let her see you."
Athena smiled speechlessly.
To be honest, she was not afraid of Lola.
In a real fight, Lola might not be Athena's opponent.
"Okay." Athena gently stroked Byron's cheek. "You look exhausted. Sleep. I will coax you to sleep."
Byron's heart suddenly was touched.
He suddenly thought of the second year since Athena came to him.
That time he took her on a business trip and witnessed a car accident on the road.
That scene might have stimulated his brain, and he suddenly started phantom pain that night.
All the pain from his accident reappeared.
That night, Athena stayed by his side without sleeping.
At dawn, the pain had finally subsided slowly.
It was also on that day that Athena disobeyed him for the first time.
Over his objections, she canceled all meetings for the next day.
Then she told him, "The meetings can be held anytime. You need to rest. Sleep. I will coax you to sleep."
Byron never knew he had so many memories of Athena before.
He felt stupid because it wasn't until she wanted to leave him that he realized how much she meant to him.
No one could treat him better than Athena.
"Okay."
Byron closed his eyes obediently.
Athena felt that he seemed to have something on his mind.
"Byron," She called him softly.
"What?"
Byron held her cheek, bowed his head, and kissed her.
Athena was helpless.
After a gentle and brief kiss, Byron let her go and said seriously, "Let's go get married tomorrow. After the turmoil of the engagement is over, we will announce it to the public."
"Tomorrow?"
Athena was taken aback.
Generally speaking, it should be her, the substitute, who was in a hurry to get married, right?
Byron was a wealthy boss. Why was he in such a hurry to marry her?
"Well, don't you want to?" Byron frowned slightly. "I have broken off the engagement for you. Don't you still believe my sincerity to you? Are you still thinking about leaving?"
"No..." Athena muttered, "Marriage is a big event. We should pick a good day, right?"
"So you will marry me?" Byron talked so many times about getting married.
Athena had always avoided it.
It was the first time she had answered him head-on.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup
I am at Chapter 550 and there are almost 2 stories in 1. Aron and Evie's story could very well have been made into another story. Such a waste of time because I am reading for Byron and Athena, not Evie and Aron...
Is there no new updates after this one?...
