Devon and the others froze.
"The engineers of the Imbe AI team?"
"They will give you some guidance on the technology. Understanding and applying it to your business is up to your abilities."
Athena paused for a moment.
Flipping over the stack of papers at her hand, she continued, "Moreover, a tree that keeps assholes in its trunk out of compassion will sooner or later die of assholes. Look at your employee resumes. How awful! Anyone who looks at it would think so. Without a competent employee, it's no wonder you've suffered losses for six consecutive quarters."
Athena lost her patience after she finished speaking.
Then she walked straight toward the door.
Devon wanted to follow her to see her off but was stopped by Liam.
"Devon, Miss Newton is true to her word. Don't waste any more of your time and sit down to continue talking about things." Liam paused and glanced at the resumes that Athena had flipped over. "Don't bother with anything else first. Put down those coworker friendships and properly check out these resumes. Right now, the hiring standards of a small company whose size investment is far inferior to yours are better than yours..."
After saying that, Liam also shook his head and went after Athena.
"Mr. Sanon..." Someone in the conference room called Devon.
Devon came to his senses.
He seriously picked up a random resume on the floor.
It was a guy who had been with the company for six years.
But the school he graduated from... wasn't one of the Ivy League. His salary, however, was above the industry standard, exceeding the level of many graduates from the Ivy League, and even almost the same as the salary of the QS top fifty people in other companies.
His academic qualifications didn't seem problematic if his abilities and personal attainments were outstanding.
But...
He wasn't bad, only too mediocre.
Devon picked up another one.
The situation remained pretty much the same.
After reading seventeen or eighteen resumes in a row, Devon sat down.
After thinking about it, he called a headhunter he knew. "I'd like to recruit a few people..."
In one breath, Devon finished the type of talent needed and then asked about the salary.
As he hung up, Devon was in a daze.
"People who come back from overseas and have work experience in big companies have the same salary as those who graduated from famous universities in our company..."
"Devon, what do you mean? Didn't we agree to protect our friends who have been with us for many years?"
With a snap, Devon slapped the table fiercely. He stood up and said with a flushed face, "Is the place a gangster's camp? It is a company! A place to make money for people who invest in it! Doesn't it make you feel ashamed when Athena talks about us like this?"

The readers' comments on the novel: My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup
I am at Chapter 550 and there are almost 2 stories in 1. Aron and Evie's story could very well have been made into another story. Such a waste of time because I am reading for Byron and Athena, not Evie and Aron...
Is there no new updates after this one?...
