Evie was puzzled.
What did Byron's menacing look mean?
She leaned into Athena's arms. "Athena, your husband is quite fierce, isn't he? I have to work and help him take care of the kid. I'm tired too..."
Byron didn't say anything.
Athena almost burst out laughing.
"Be serious," she said, patting Evie's waist.
Evie huffed, then said, "Mia wanted to experience this herself. Ask her if you don't believe me!"
Mia had already woken up, but she was still bleary-eyed.
"Mia, are you that tired?" Athena asked gently.
Mia blinked at her, then suddenly pouted and started crying. "Mommy..."
As Mia called for her Mommy, she reached out for a hug.
Athena took her from Byron's arms. "You're five years old now. Why do you still cry so much?"
"I miss you." Mia sobbed. "Is this a dream? Did Mommy come home?"
"It's not a dream," Athena said, kissing Mia, "Can you feel the warmth?"
Mia held onto Athena's neck and cried again.
Byron stood there watching.
It was impossible to say he wasn't envious.
But even just watching made him feel happy, so very happy.
"Why are you alone? Where's Aron?" Byron asked Evie.
"He's away on a trip. I didn't tell him. Don't let it slip," Evie warned.
But the next second, she felt something was off from Byron's silence.
She grabbed the agreement, quickly flipped to the end, and indeed saw her grandfather's signature.
That old man...
Was he betraying her?
"Ms. Lisa Young, when some unscrupulous people poisoned your dog and were on the brink of death, our family spent hundreds of thousands to save it," Athena told Lisa. "We have a legally binding gifting contract with the dog's owner, so there was never any theft."
"That's impossible!" Lisa was very agitated. "Your agreement is forged, or you forced our grandfather to sign it!"
"For that, you'll have to verify with the parties involved," Athena said to the mediators.
"We will verify the authenticity!" They then turned to Lisa. "Do you have any other demands?"
"They injured someone! Aren't they going to be punished?" Lisa's eyes were red.
"We've seen the surveillance footage. You were the one who attacked. The dog knocked you down to protect its owner and didn't bite. Your arm injury was an accident," the mediator said and then played the video.

The readers' comments on the novel: My Mommy Became A Billionaire After the Breakup
I am at Chapter 550 and there are almost 2 stories in 1. Aron and Evie's story could very well have been made into another story. Such a waste of time because I am reading for Byron and Athena, not Evie and Aron...
Is there no new updates after this one?...
