My Most Precious Human novel Chapter 98

Kanan helped me calm down. He waited until the brush of cool night wind took away the flush from my teary eyes and cheeks, and then he led me back to the ballroom.

"Come on. I have to introduce you to a few important people." He grinned as he pulled my hand towards a group of men, drinking champagne and talking.

"Prince Kanan! So good to see you!" One of the men called out and reached his hand forward.

Kanan shook his hand with a courteous smile. "Mr. Parson, I'm glad that we can finally meet. It's been a while."

Mr. Parson looked like a handsome, brown-haired, and brown-eyed man in his forties, wearing a black, fitted tuxedo. He had an aura of prestige and elegance around him. His movements and gestures resembled those I had seen in old British historical movies. The man nodded politely, as if he was trying to hide the fact that he was carefully scanning my features while doing that.

"Mr. Parson, may I introduce Lady Lilith." Kanan gestured at me with a wide grin.

"Pleased to meet you, Mr. Parson," I said with a little bow.

"The pleasure is all mine, Lady Lilith," Mr. Parson chuckled. "I've been looking forward to meeting you in person. I've heard a lot about you."

Kanan swiftly passed a glass of champagne to me and Mr. Parson, and a minute later, we were engaged in a conversation about his business. I had learned that Mr. Parson was the owner of a huge international development company. He invested big money and he earned sums with an insane number of zeros. I began wondering why this incredibly rich man had been so eager to get to know me, but something was telling me, I wasn't going to like his reason…

"Do you know what every businessman hates the most?" Mr. Parson asked suddenly.

I replied, smiling. "I'm not certain, but I will gladly hear an answer."

"Businessmen hate limitations, and right now I am limited. It's not because of greed. I merely love my work, and some territories are restricted to vampires like myself." He smirked and gazed at me meaningfully.

I could tell where this conversation was leading to. "Restricted… You mean that you are not allowed to make investments within the packs' lands?"

"Exactly!" he exclaimed, his grin widening.

"Mr. Parson… is there a reason why you are telling me this?" I glanced suspiciously at him.

Suddenly, his expression changed, as if his mask had fallen off. As his eyes gave a calculated and cold stare, his bright grin turned into a cunning smirk.

"You are a bright and intelligent woman, Lady Lilith. Don't tell me you cannot answer this question yourself," he chuckled.

"If you wanted to meet me because I am the daughter of two Alphas, I hate to disappoint you. I am nothing but a human," I tossed, slightly annoyed.

Mr. Parson laughed as if my response amused him. "You are a sweet joker, Lady Lilith," he snorted and then stepped closer to look into my eyes. "No human can defeat a Royal Army warrior, and Kylo was one of the strongest. He could even fight alongside purebloods and was no match for you."
