My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 390

"I'm going to wash up!" I got up and went to the bathroom.

Winter was growing colder with each passing day. The sky looked foggy outside, and the water was ice cold. I turned on the tap and waited for it to warm up.

Hendrix followed behind shortly after. He had dark circles under his eyes; probably from a lack of sleep.

I glanced at him. "What time did you sleep last night?"

He yawned and replied, "Two!"

That was late!

It was only seven in the morning, he obviously did not get enough sleep. "Do you want to lie down for a while longer?"

He hugged me from the back and said half-jokingly, "Josiah said that I should follow you around 24/7."

What did he mean by that?

"So, you wash and I'll shower!"

I looked at him blankly, confused about what he meant.

When I realized what he meant, I couldn't help but feel stunned by his behavior. I looked away for a while, pursed my lips, and said, "Go shower first, I'll head out!"

He pulled me closer and asked, "Why are you hiding? Haven't you seen it?"

I...

I bit my lips again. "Wash up," he said.

Watching him turn the faucet on, I paused and said, "Hendrix, take some time off and take me to the doctor!"

His eyes stared right into me as he said. "Finally! I've gotten through to you!"

I nodded. "I heard that it's not safe to take too many sleeping pills."

I couldn't help but feel awkward. Hendrix and

I were stuck to each other like glue, and he obviously looked like he was protecting me. This then aroused the suspicions of those around us. One nosy fellow even asked, "Mr. Roberts, are you and Director Reid in a relationship?"

I initially thought that Hendrix, who had always been cold and unapproachable, would ignore him. At the very least, he would just smile out of politeness. Thus, I completely didn't expect him to reply, "She's my wife. We've been married for a few years now."

This caught everyone in the elevator by surprise. For a brief moment, everyone could only gawk in silence.

Though I felt like saying something, no words escaped my mouth. I could only continue smiling at everyone.

The natural curiosity in people prompted those in the elevator to start asking about our relationship, as well as our wedding.

Fortunately, we arrived at our floor soon after. I grabbed Hendrix's arm and dragged him to my office while apologizing with a smile.

As soon as we got into my office, I glared at him. "I told you, you shouldn't have followed me to work."
