My Pretty Sweetheart (Arianna) novel Chapter 866

Hendrix noticed that I seemed to be in a bad mood. After talking for a bit more, he escorted me out of the villa.

Outside the main hall, Owen bid farewell to Pedro and was then helped into his car by a young man.

As Hendrix and I descended the stairs, we inadvertently looked at the young man who seemed familiar. At that moment, we couldn't remember where we had seen him before.

After the young man had gotten Owen into the car, he turned back to say goodbye to Pedro.

When I took in his cold, sharp features, I was suddenly reminded of who he was. He was the man who had saved me in Ucrebury.

Why was he there?

Was he a member of the Milton Family or was he working for the Milton Family?

"Let's go!" Hendrix's voice rang in my ears. I came to my senses and followed him to the car.

When I locked eyes with the man, he merely glanced thinly at me before he got in his car and left.

When we reached home, it was late and I was tired. We had a brief conversation before I retired to the bedroom.

I leaned on the sofa, feeling a little exhausted. Hendrix sat by my side, looking like he had something to say but he then thought better of it.

I stayed quiet as well. For the past few days, our interactions looked normal at first glance. He was still incredibly gentle and he took good care of me, and I still smiled at him with joy and want in my eyes.

However, when it came down to it, things had changed and we were no longer the same. Compared to the previous uninhibited quarrelling and heartbreaking fights we had, somehow, our current state seemed even more unbearable.

"Arianna, we..." he said, before he was interrupted by the ringing of the phone.

He frowned at that, but he lowered his head and answered the phone anyway. His voice dull, he said, "What is it?"

I had no idea what the other person said, but Hendrix suddenly stood up, frown deepening as he said, "Don't panic yet. I'll drop by."
