The maids in the kitchen were brought away while everyone else left in the lounge were expressionless. It seemed that they had become used to this happening.
I was on the verge of breaking down. As much as I wanted to say something, I was defeated by selfpreservation; I could only save and protect myself.
"They..." The words were at the tip of my tongue.
Kaleb's voice slithered into my ear. "I heard that it's not just the Milton family who wants you home?"
I wasn't expecting his question. I looked up at him but his eyes were so cold that I dared not look straight at him.
I couldn't help lowering my head. "What do you mean?"
He smiled coldly. "Fine, I'll just see this as a favor that I'm doing for the Miltons."
After that, he looked to Tiago and said, "Let Miss Reid move about freely here. Don't mistreat her."
"Yes, Sir!"
After that, he left.
I was puzzled and felt more than a little confused.
Night came.
The bright moonlight shone across the yard, and the faint noise of the insects were like a pleasant evening symphony.
I got up and sat on the bed. I hesitated briefly before deciding to get up.
Kaleb had said that I could move about freely in the villa.
There was a landline in the villa, but I couldn't use it to make a phone call.
No one was sure if the landline could be used and causing trouble was the last thing I wanted.
