Bennett almost dropped his umbrella in disbelief. “The Regal Tavern, beneath him?”

Jonah patiently explained to his sister, “The Regal Tavern is more suited for business meetings, and its privacy is unmatched. There’s no better place to meet Mr. Riverson without attracting unwanted attention.” 

Leah’s face softened as she processed the explanation, a flush of embarrassment creeping onto her cheeks. “I didn’t realize that. Thank you for the advice.” 

Bennett quickly reassured her, “I double–checked with the butler. There are only two tables reserved tonight. It’s just us and one other group, so we won’t run into anyone.” 

Willard glanced at his watch. “It’s almost time. Mr. Riverson should be here any moment.” 

Just then, a black Volkswagen pulled up in front of the Regal Tavern. 

“An ordinary car–this must be Mr. Riverson, our man of the people!” Bennett said, a smile spreading across his face as he raised the umbrella to shield the car door. 

As the door opened, a figure stepped out–Bennett eagerly adjusted his umbrella to cover the door more effectively. 

But as soon as he saw the person, his face changed instantly. 

“Charmaine, what are you doing here?!” he exclaimed. 

Everyone else was equally stunned. 

Charmaine appeared just as surprised. 

Her expression remained calm as she scanned the group, quickly piecing together why they were there. 

Leah gasped, her hand covering her mouth. “You’re here at the Regal Tavern? Does that mean … ?” 

Sophie, her voice sharp as it echoed through the alley, was the first to speak. “Well, well, if it isn’t you, trying to stir up trouble again!” 

Her words, full of disdain, seemed to confirm everyone’s suspicions that Charmaine was up to no good. 

Willard and Jonah’s expressions darkened, clearly displeased. 

Charmaine raised an eyebrow and gave them a cool, mocking smile. “You all really think a lot of yourselves, don’t you?” 

Willard’s tone hardened. “Charmaine, don’t push your luck. Leave now, and you might still avoid trouble.” 

“Really?” Charmaine responded. “I wasn’t aware you owned the Regal Tavern. That’s an impressive show of power.” 

Willard’s face turned white with anger. 

Bennett, realizing he had been holding the umbrella for Charmaine, stood up straight, frustration boiling over. “D*mn it, this is none of your business. Get out of here, you brat!”

“Ugh!” Bennett groaned as he rolled in the wet dirt, his expensive suit ruined and dirt smeared all over his face. 

“You little…” Sophie started, but before she could finish, another car pulled up. 

Bennett quickly spoke, a mix of irritation and urgency. “This time, it’s really Mr. Riverson! Go greet him. I need to clean up!” 

He shot Charmaine an angry glare. “Just you wait!” 

Charmaine chuckled, unaffected by their reactions. As everyone scrambled to greet the new arrival, she calmly walked into the Regal Tavern.
