The final bidder was none other than the rival who had taken the bidding documents from them in her previous life.
Charmaine closed her eyes, focusing deeply as she listened to the host read through the bidding details.
The documents matched. The proposals aligned, but when the price was announced…
Her eyes flew open.
The rival’s bid was a full ten million less than the Reads!
Her pupils trembled slightly.
How could this be? In her previous life, the Reads had lost because their price had been lower than the rival’s.
Her gaze instinctively shifted to Bennett.
Sitting beside him was the manager overseeing their bidding project.
When the bids concluded, Bennett threw an arm around the manager and laughed boisterously as though they already knew the results would be in their favor.
As the evaluation phase began, the room grew noticeably more animated.
Bennett, brimming with confidence, sauntered over to Dominic with exaggerated swagger. “Dominic, you’ve been so busy lately. Your belly’s shrunk a lot! Guess it’s time to buy new pants, huh?“.
Before Dominic could reply, Bennett cackled loudly. “Oh, silly me! If you don’t win the project, how would you even have the heart to shop for new clothes? Hahaha!”
Dominic let out a cold snort, choosing to ignore the provocation entirely.
Charmaine admired Dominic’s composure in the face of such blatant mockery.

The room erupted into applause. Bennett froze as if struck by lightning. Sophie and his department

“How could it be Dominic?” Bennett stammered. “This bid was ours! How could it possibly be Dominic?”
Meanwhile, the audience congratulated Dominic, who looked just as shocked.
“Congratulations, Mr. Wheeler!”
“Well done on securing the South City development project. Let’s collaborate and make money together!”
Dominic, finally snapping out of his daze, grinned so widely that his eyes almost disappeared. His voice boomed with excitement. “Thank you all! Thank you! Let’s work closely and share opportunities in the future, haha!”
Jonah stood up slowly, buttoned his suit jacket, and cast a cold glance at Bennett, who remained frozen.
“Mr. Read, it’s best to show restraint when the outcome is uncertain,” he said flatly before heading to Dominic to offer his congratulations.
Sophie, unable to hold back, covered her mouth and began sobbing uncontrollably. Then, she started shaking her petrified husband.
“Honey, say something! What’s going on?” Sophie cried.
