“Ugh, so this is what wealth smells like? It’s not rotten at all–it’s insanely sweet!” 

Veronica, who had never been to Eastlake herself, heard their comments and sneered. “Tsk, if you’re so envious, just try harder. Maybe you can work at the Crosses as a maid someday.” 

Everyone fell silent, understanding the sting in Veronica’s words without needing to say more. 

Celeste, unable to hold back, nearly exploded. If Charmaine hadn’t been there to hold her back, she would’ve stormed over to confront Veronica. 

“Veronica, can you not talk for once?” 

“What, am I not allowed to speak the truth?” 

Celeste scoffed. “Some people act all high and mighty, but deep down, they want nothing more than to be Mr. Emyr’s personal servant. Too bad Mr. Emyr doesn’t even look at them!” 

Veronica clenched her fists and glared back ferociously. 

Celeste, feeling victorious, stuck her tongue out playfully and returned to her seat. 

Due to Charmaine’s calm indifference, Celeste smirked. “Veronica’s so jealous. When we get there, she’s going to be green with envy.” 

Curiously, she leaned in and whispered, “Charmaine, is your room big?”

Celeste nodded, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world. “I see. You’re staying with Mr. Emyr, aren’t you? That’s settled. Veronica’s probably going to be so jealous tonight–no, I bet she won’t sleep at all this whole month.” 

Charmaine had no words. 

She couldn’t help but wonder if Celeste had installed surveillance cameras in the house–how else could she know all this so accurately? 

Ten minutes later, the minibus finally arrived at the Cross Residence and slowly approached the vast complex. 

Inside the car, the group gazed at the sprawling villas set amid a meticulously crafted artificial landscape. In the distance, they could see maids, servants, and bodyguards dressed in uniform, marching in perfect formation. Their jaws fell in astonishment. 

“Wait… Is this really the Crosses? Are you sure it’s not some luxury resort or villa complex?” 

“There are so many servants here; they could form a mid–scale company! Just the cost of employing them would be enough to last me a lifetime!”
