Chapter 230 Want Some Wine?
Finished
As Charmaine wheeled Emyr into the private room, Veronica was already standing near the door, feeling so embarrassed she wished she could sink into the floor.
When her eyes landed on Emyr, she rushed toward him, but as soon as she saw Charmaine behind him, she froze, unsure of how to act.
Fearful, she nervously began, her voice trembling with barely controlled emotion. “Mr. Emyr …
Emyr furrowed his brows. “What are you doing here?”
Veronica sniffled softly, her voice breaking, “I haven’t seen you in so long, and when I saw everyone here, I thought… maybe you’d be here too…”
Emyr’s frown deepened as he processed her words.
He quickly glanced at Charmaine, who was observing Veronica with curious eyes. His expression shifted for a brief moment.
Freya, already annoyed by Veronica’s unexpected appearance, almost choked when Charmaine confidently walked in right behind her.
“Emyr!”
Freya marched over, her voice sharp with disdain. “Didn’t we agree to discuss business tonight? Now we have one person after another showing up who isn’t part of this! How are we supposed to accomplish anything?”
It was clear to everyone that Freya was taking aim at Charmaine.
Emyr’s face darkened, his tone turning cold and authoritative. “If you don’t want to discuss business, then eat. If not, leave.”
His words left no room for argument, and Freya’s anger froze, her face paling.
Veronica, who had been shrinking with fear before Emyr arrived, couldn’t help but feel a small sense of satisfaction seeing Freya so speechless. Mr. Emyr is standing up for me, she thought.
Who told them to look down on me earlier, even Keon!
If he had said something for me, Freya wouldn’t have called me out like that just now!
A simmering mix of resentment and ambition bubbled up inside Veronica. The more Emyr defended her, the more her desire for him grew.
One day, when Mr. Emyr accepts me, I will make those high–society heirs regret ever looking at me with indifference.
The room fell silent, with everyone too nervous to speak, afraid of getting dragged into the escalating
tension.
Just then, a loud stomach growl broke the quiet.
Charmaine blinked, then asked matter–of–factly, “So, when do we eat?”

before we left.”

Charmaine shrugged nonchalantly. “I’m still growing! That was just a tiny bite, and I finished it a long time ago!”
Emyr shot her a sidelong glance, his voice low enough for only her to hear. “You ate that much, but the parts of you that should grow still seem small.”
What’s he looking at now?! Charmaine fumed inwardly, her frustration mounting. She wanted to retort but couldn’t figure out what part of Emyr seemed inadequate.
Gah, it’s so frustrating!
Emyr glanced at her cheeks, puffed up like a squirrel’s, and his usual cold, angry expression softened into a
rare smile.
Watching the playful exchange between them, the others in the room were left stunned. It was as if they had just witnessed a completely different side to Emyr.
