Charmaine glanced at the eager and cheerful Kane, then looked over at the poor crocodiles in the adjacent pond, smelling the food but unable to eat it. She couldn’t help but feel sorry for them. 

“Chara, you’re finally back! We’ve been waiting just for you!” 

Kane bowed gentlemanly and gestured for Charmaine to sit next to Emyr. “Please, have a seat-” 

Charmaine turned to look at Satan himself. Sure enough, his face was full of displeasure, looking as if he had been forced to sit there against his will. 

As soon as she sat down, she leaned slightly toward him and whispered, “Mr. Emyr, are you really just going to let Mr. Kane mess around like this?” 

Satan let out a cold snort. “I’ve been busy at the company. The moment I got back, I was dragged here. How was I supposed to know Kane, that so–called genius, would pull off something this ridiculous?” 

With his sharp cars, Kane gasped and covered his mouth in shock. “Emyr, did you just call me a genius? You think tonight’s dinner is amazing, too, right?” 

“Heh.” 

“Ah! Your cold, emotionless smile is just your way of expressing deep satisfaction. I totally get it!” 

Charmaine had nothing to say. 

You absolutely do not get it! 

-But since there was good food, she decided not to argue. 

She was starving. 

Watching her eat so heartily, Emyr, despite maintaining his usual cold expression, started eating as well. 

His movements were elegant, yet he occasionally reached out to move certain dishes closer when he noticed her eating more.. 

Seeing she was too lazy to cut her steak into smaller pieces, he silently cut it for her and placed it neatly on her plate. 

Watching the two get along harmoniously, Kane rested his chin on his hands, suddenly struck with an idea. 

With a sly smile, he asked, “Chara, has your school announced the internship placements yet?” 

Charmaine was momentarily stunned. In a flash of realization, she narrowed her eyes. “Was this your doing?” 

Kane tilted his chin up proudly. “Of course! My ex–girlfriend also studied in Eragos, but she was a senior. She begged me to get her an internship at The Crosses. Something this good should obviously be enjoyed by you!” 

“Emyr, don’t you agree?” 

This wasn’t even a question; he was fishing for compliments.

But after a moment’s thought, he understood what had happened. 

For once, he sincerely responded, “Yes.” 

“Oh yeah! Emyr praised me twice today! I’m officially the best brother in the world!” 

Charmaine was speechless. 

More like the most narcissistic brother in the world! 

She rubbed her temples, already out of words. 

Kane pouted, then sneakily leaned closer to Emyr. Despite the dangerous glint in Emyr’s eyes, he whispered, “Emyr, this is a great opportunity! You have to take advantage of it!” 

Emyr remained expressionless, unmoved. 

Kane smacked his forehead in frustration.
