Charmaine’s eyes widened with surprise, making her feelings crystal clear. Emyr extended his hand toward her. “Roll up my sleeves.”
“Huh? Oh, sure.”
She followed his instruction, her fingers brushing against his warm skin. Fresh from a shower, his body radiated heat, and she couldn’t help but let her fingertips linger a little longer.
Hmm, as long as I don’t make it obvious, he won’t notice I’m secretly stealing warmth from him, right?
It has happened before, anyway.
Charmaine thought she was being subtle, but the slight movement of Emyr’s lashes betrayed him
The fleeting touch sent a shiver through him, like a faint electric current tingling across his skin before settling deep in his chest.
Yet, as soon as her hand left his arm, the sensation vanished completely.
Feeling oddly dissatisfied, Emyr absently rubbed his fingertips together.
“But, Mr. Emyr, why aren’t you in bed yet? And why did you need me to roll up your sleeves?”
He gestured toward the suitcase sprawled on the floor. “Do you plan on spending the entire night packing?
“That’s impossible. At worst… I just won’t be able to fit everything in.”
Charmaine scratched her nose. Then, the realization hit her. “Wait a second, are you offering to help me pack?”
Emyr tilted his chin proudly. “I just don’t want to be woken up in the middle of the night by your rustling around.”
Charmaine stuck out her tongue playfully. “Hehe, thanks, Mr. Emyr! You’re so kind!”
He scoffed. Clearly, he wasn’t falling for her exaggerated flattery.
Charmaine didn’t dare leave everything to him. She took charge of handing him the clothes, and he neatly folded each piece before she placed them into the suitcase.
His hands worked much faster than hers, and in no time, the once–chaotic pile was perfectly packed.
Smiling absentmindedly, Charmaine passed him another item without looking–only to freeze the next
moment.
Emyr was holding her little yellow duck–print underwear.
He unfolded them briefly before going completely still. The tips of his ears turned red.
Startled, Charmaine snatched them back. “I’ll take care of this myself!”
Maintaining a composed expression, Emyr remarked, “Why are you so embarrassed? It’s not like I haven’t seen them before.”

Flushing furiously, Charmaine hastily balled up the small garments and shoved them deep into a corner of her suitcase. Then, grabbing her pajamas, she bolted into the bathroom.
Left alone, Emyr stood still for a moment before suppressing the unfamiliar warmth creeping up his face.
Thinking back to Charmaine’s flustered reaction, he smiled slightly, his eyes softening with quiet
amusement.
Early the next morning.
The class monitor had arranged for everyone to meet at the campus gate at 8:30 a.m. to board the bus together.
Charmaine arrived ten minutes early, stowing her luggage as Celeste showed up. The two of them climbed aboard side by side.
By then, most students had taken their seats. The front and middle rows were nearly full, leaving only the last few rows open.
Up ahead, Veronica and Leah stood in, the aisle near the first row.
