Of course, satisfying her appetite was one thing, but the real joy came from the sheer happiness in her heart. 

The group next door had been watching her feast all by herself, their eyes filled with envy, jealousy, and sheer longing. That feeling was utterly satisfying! 

She lay back on the grass, basking in the sunlight, completely relaxed. Before she knew it, she was drifting off to sleep. 

Suddenly, her phone rang, and Celeste lazily picked up. 

“Hello?” 

“Where’s Charmaine?” 

She jolted awake instantly, her drowsiness vanishing in a heartbeat. 

Quickly sitting up, she glanced around.

Not far away, inside that fancy glass suite, the ever–flashy pretty boy Rex was staring at her through the glass like a hamster trapped in a bubble. 

Seeing her sit there, staring blankly without answering, he repeated, “Where is she? Why isn’t she picking up her phone?” 

“Oh, her? She went out for a walk nearby and didn’t bring her phone.”

Celeste quickly hung up the phone and dashed toward Rex’s suite without another word. 

She hurried inside and closed all the curtains, blocking all view of the outside world, as her classmates watched in disbelief. Veronica laughed mockingly and said, “Whoa, I thought Celeste was always boasting about her family’s wealth and behaving quite superior. Turns out, she’s merely utilizing this strategy to advance in her career!” 

The others exchanged stunned glances. “Huh? No way Isn’t Celeste’s dad super powerful?”

Veronica smirked darkly. “Powerful? Is he more powerful than Rex? Her dad’s been practically glued to Rex lately, sucking up to him for all he’s worth!” 

Ever since Dominic started working under Rex, Veronica’s parents had been filled with resentment at home. They constantly wonder why they can’t get any business favors from Emyr. In both subtle and not–so–subtle ways, they’ve made it painfully clear that she is the useless one!
