Agatha dropped her smile, signaling to the store manager. “If you can’t serve your esteemed customers properly, there’s no need to keep such useless staff.” 

With a forced smile, the manager quickly ordered an associate to drag the fallen salesgirl out. “Offendin our distinguished guests is unacceptable. Don’t bother to come back tomorrow.” 

Two days later, Charmaine officially joined the recording of “Healing Hand.” 

Though she hadn’t visited Beacon Hospital in those two days, she kept a close watch on the two little kittens through surveillance on her phone. 

To her surprise, the mother cat never came back for them. 

Could it be because they had her scent on them? 

Thinking about them for the past two days, Charmaine woke up early on the recording day, packed her bag, and hurried out. 

After getting off the car, she made her way to a secluded public restroom and emerged a few moments later in a different outfit. She had put in colored contacts, and eyeliner to alter her eye shape, then wore dark–tinted glasses and a mask. Dressed in a tight black outfit, she made her way to the hospital. 

She arrived half an hour early for her 8 AM shift. As she opened the office door, the muffled meows inside became clearly audible. 

The kittens, still wary of the cold, had climbed through the window and were playing on the office chair. 

Seeing a stranger enter their territory, they flattened their ears and hissed at Charmaine in a display of self–defense. 

Closing the door behind her, Charmaine slowly approached them. “Hey kitties, it’s me.” 

She stopped half a meter away from them and pulled out a syringe filled with milk from her pocket. “You haven’t had milk for two days now. Want some?” 

Knowing they were still wary of her, she didn’t get too close. Instead, she extended the syringe, squeezing a bit of milk onto their noses. 

Smelling the familiar scent, the kittens went from menacing to mild, meowing sweetly and inching closer to the syringe. 

Charmaine laughed. “Greedy little furballs!” 

Holding the syringe with both hands, she gently fed the milk to them. 

Soon, each kitten had downed about 30 milliliters of milk. 

Recognizing Charmaine as their previous provider, the kittens wagged their tails and rubbed against her, mewling for more.
