Chapter 350 I Am Celeste’s Cousin

Rex mulled it over for a while, and the more he thought, the more something felt off. “Sid said he heard some noise on Charmaine’s end. Could there really be someone with her? Not just the TV?”
Celeste had already gotten out of bed to put on a face mask. The cool, damp sheet clung to her face as she smoothed out the wrinkles.
Lowering her head, she spotted Rex’s message. The sudden guess startled her, making her shiver involuntarily.
“No way!” She quickly found an excuse to dismiss Rex’s suspicion. “Charmaine already said it was the TV. If you don’t believe her, why don’t you just ask her yourself?”
Rex replied, “Forget it. Guess we’re just overthinking.”
He had no intention of walking into trouble.
Celeste didn’t feel like continuing the conversation. She simply said she was going to sleep and exited the chat.
But before she could relax, Erin’s call popped up.
She frowned but picked up anyway. “You’re not trying to drag me into another game, are you, Erin?”
On the other end, Erin sounded unusually excited. She probed indirectly, “Celeste, who were those two people we played with earlier? Your classmates?”
“They are my friends. Why?”
“I just checked the host’s profile–full skin collection and loaded with in–game currency! That account must’ve cost at least hundreds of thousands! Seriously, the host must have spent a fortune on the game!” Erin’s shock practically jumped through the phone.
Wasn’t the host that flirtatious airhead?
Celeste hadn’t noticed any of that. She only found Erin’s focus strange. “Erin, seriously? You called me just for that? Go to sleep. Finals are coming. Bomb them, and you’ll get chewed out again.”
Seeing that Celeste wasn’t willing to share a thing, Erin lost interest and hung up.
Still, the image of Rex’s account–blaring wealth and dripping with extravagance–kept her tossing and turning.
Her father, Joseph Wheeler, worked with Celeste’s father, Dominic, in business. However, compared to Dominic, Joseph lacked Dominic’s endurance and ruthless drive. He always fell short by a mile.
Over the years, Joseph ended up picking up scraps from Dominic’s deals. While Dominic amassed wealth, Joseph could only manage a modest living.
Although Joseph loved Erin dearly, she had always envied Celeste growing up.
After all, Celeste had what she didn’t–a wealthy father.

If only her dad were Dominic, then she’d be the princess everyone envied. She wouldn’t have to wake up at dawn, buried in test papers, struggling to keep up with her studies.
With just a bit of family fortune, she could easily go abroad, earn a degree, and return home to enjoy the life of a trust–fund kid. There would be no need for her to hustle or struggle.
But unfortunately, her father lacked both the brains and the capability to make big money. So, she had to find other ways.
Such as…
After much deliberation, Erin gave in to temptation. She logged back into the game and sent Rex a friend
request.
She hovered over the chat, her fingers pausing for a second before she typed.
Tm Celeste’s cousin. Celeste told me to add you-”
With a satisfied smile, she hit send and hugged her phone, eagerly awaiting a response.
After finishing her livestream, Mia felt an itch to play and pulled Rex into a duo match. Rex couldn’t win against her persistence and logged back on.
Just as he logged in, a friend request notification popped up. He glanced at the note and accepted.
