The staff member politely handed over a pen. 

Charmaine was taken aback. She leaned in closer and whispered, “Are you going to sign?” 

Emyr tilted his head slightly and murmured back, “Why not?” 

“But won’t this make it easier for people to recognize you?” 

She was careful with her wording, but Emyr understood what she meant.

She had a point. If someone got ahold of his signature and photo, the consequences could be unpredictable. 

After a brief pause, Emyr suddenly lifted his hand and signed–right over his face in the photo. 

Charmaine squinted at it, making sure she wasn’t seeing things. He had signed her name. 

She couldn’t help but chuckle. “That’s not how autographs work.” 

It was as if he was putting his label on his belongings. 

“Why not?” he replied casually, handing the pen to her. His lips curled slightly, motioning for her to sign as well. 

With no other choice, Charmaine took the pen and, in one smooth motion, wrote his name over her face in the picture. 

Watching as he carefully found a less crowded spot to stick the photo, Charmaine teased, “Didn’t take you for someone who believes in that ‘couples who sign each other’s names won’t break up‘ superstition.” 

Emyr let her joke at his expense without arguing. 

Rex had been stuck in line for nearly an hour, wedged between couples before he finally reached Celeste.

The moment he saw her, he grumbled, “What took you so long?” 

Celeste wasn’t one to coddle him. “I can always head home and come back again.” 

Rex immediately dropped to his knees in exaggerated surrender. “I was wrong! You got here so fast–I barely waited at all!” 

Celeste shot him a look but decided to be merciful, given how sincerely he admitted his mistake. 

Their playful banter had the people around them chuckling. 

A guy in front of them patted Rex’s shoulder like an experienced elder. “Bro, next time you want to complain, just keep it in your head. That’ll solve 80% of your problems.” 

Rex clasped his hands together in gratitude. “Lesson learned!”

Celeste swallowed nervously. “What if you’re wrong? Maybe we should skip this–Ferris wheels are pretty high up … 

Rex shot her a look of disdain. “Are you afraid of heights?” 

“Of course not. I’m just worried you might be.” 

Rex tilted his chin up smugly. “Next time, come to my office with your dad–I’ll show you what real height looks like.” 

“Okay.” 

Celeste had zero interest in his office. Her mind was busy figuring out how to keep Rex from spotting Charmaine and Emyr. 

Thirty minutes later, Celeste sat stiffly in the Ferris wheel cabin, her arm practically trapped in Rex’s vice- like grip. 

She twitched at the corners of her mouth. “Your office is taller than this?” 

Rex was even paler now, looking like a ghost. 

Trying to act tough, he puffed out his chest, but the moment he moved, the cabin swayed slightly with him.
