The whispers around them varied in tone. Celeste couldn’t help but overhear. A small laugh escaped her lips. “They’ve totally misunderstood everything. It’s your presence that’s causing all this chaos!” 

Charmaine sighed in resignation. “I’m heading to the bathroom for a minute.” 

“Go ahead. I’ll text you when things get started,” Celeste replied, her voice light. 

As Charmaine stood up, a waiter who had been standing nearby immediately moved to assist her. 

Behind her, Celeste gasped in surprise. “Oh, my God, I was right! Maybe he really is interested in you, and you’re too oblivious to notice!” 

Charmaine exited the event hall and made her way down the corridor toward the restroom. 

Just as she entered a stall, her phone buzzed. 

It was a message from Celeste. 

They’re starting already?! 

Curious, Charmaine opened the text, which was filled with exclamation marks, “Leah’s here too!! And she’s gone to the bathroom!!” 

Charmaine frowned. Before she could respond, she heard the sound of rapid footsteps approaching the 

restroom. 

Leah, phone in hand, entered with a frustrated look, her voice sharp and low. “Hold on a second!” 

She opened each stall one by one, checking them quickly. 

From the first stall to the second–to–last, they were all empty. 

Her gaze stopped at the last stall. 

With a firm push, Leah swung open the door. 

Leah leaned against the wall, confirming the restroom was empty, then lowered her voice to a whisper. “Spill it quickly. Maxwell and I are at the auction.” 

The silence seemed to echo in the restroom as the faint sound of Bennett’s voice crackled through the phone speaker. 

His anxious tone filled the space. “My dear, you’ve got to help me. I’ve tried everything, but no one’s buying our pre–made meals. The batch we made is just sitting there, and the warehouse can’t hold it anymore!” 

Leah let out a bitter laugh. “Is this your first time in business? You can’t just push products out with no demand. If no one’s buying your meals, it means they’re not up to standard. How do you expect me to help you with that?” 

“They can’t be bad. When we handed them out for free, they were gone in an instant!”
