Chapter 84 What Do You Want Now
“Ms. Nelson, someone is here to see you.”
Leah stepped outside and was startled to see Tad, as formal as ever.
“Ms. Leah, Mr. Emyr would like to see you.”

The mention of his name instantly brought to Leah’s mind the image of Emyr’s strikingly aristocratic features–tall, handsome, and commanding. Without hesitation, she climbed into the car.
Once inside, she turned to Tad and asked, “Does Mr. Emyr’s family own a number of Maybachs?”
Tad gave her a quick glance. “Yes.”
“Not just anyone can ride in them, right?”
After all, the car that came to pick her up was just a standard Mercedes–Benz E–Class.
Tad appeared puzzled but answered, “Only Cross family members are allowed to use them.”
Leah nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her.
Charmaine must have been permitted to ride in one because of her role as a servant to the Cross family.
Otherwise, no matter how hard she worked, she would never be able to earn that privilege on her own.
Soon, they arrived at Cross Group.
Leah had passed by this building several times, looking at it from across the river from Nelson Group’s building.
But now, standing inside, she realized that even among the oldest families, the level of wealth and influence could be so vastly different…
The combination of modern technology and business was flawless, nothing out of place.
Before she could process her surroundings, Tad led her directly to the CEO’s office.
He pressed the intercom by the door. “Mr. Emyr, she’s here.”
The green light flashed, signaling access. Tad motioned for Leah to go in.
Leah stepped into the office, immediately struck by the panoramic curved windows that gave her a stunning view of the busy center of Eragos.
In the middle of the room sat a man in a wheelchair, turning slowly to face her. His sharp, sculpted features seemed almost otherworldly, and Leah found herself breathless.
His dark, endless eyes were like an abyss, drawing her in with their mysterious depths.
“Mr. Emyr,” Leah murmured softly.
His gaze locked on her with a piercing intensity, as if he could see straight into her soul. Leah’s heart sped up, her cheeks flushed, and without realizing it, she took a step closer.

Before she could get any closer, Emyr’s voice sliced through the air, cold and commanding. “Stay where you are. Unbutton your shirt.”
What?
Leah thought she must have misheard, but when she saw the seriousness in his face, she realized he wasn’t joking.
A strange mix of emotions stirred inside her, but there was also an unexpected thrill at his command.
She took a deep breath and tried to maintain her composure, her voice firm as she spoke. “Mr. Emyr, I’m not the kind of person you think I am-”
“Take off the necklace around your neck.”
“What?”
“Are you deaf?”
Leah didn’t dare argue. With trembling hands, she removed the necklace and handed it to him.
Emyr snatched it from her with a swift motion, inspecting the bullet–shaped clasp carefully.
As he had thought, there was a small scratch near the tip, about the length of a fingernail.
He gripped the necklace tightly, his hand trembling slightly, while his face grew even more unreadable.
“Where did you get this necklace?”
His voice was icy and detached, but the weight of his words made Leah’s heart race. Thoughts spun in her head, and she stammered, “Mr. Emyr, do you … recognize this necklace?”
“Just answer my question. I didn’t give you permission to ask anything.”
Leah felt as if her throat had closed up, struggling to breathe. “I–I …
Seeing her hesitation, Emyr’s eyes narrowed dangerously. “You want to claim this necklace is yours?”
