Before Charmaine could finish her sentence, Keon had already ushered her into the car and was quickly rummaging through the emergency medical kit. Within seconds, he produced an Alpine Remedy,

“Since it’s such a coincidence, why don’t you join me? Keon interrupted, his tone casual as if it were the most natural suggestion. 

Charmaine furrowed her brows and instinctively replied, “Keon, we agreed that once we parted ways, we’d

“As strangers,” Keon finished for her smoothly. “Everything that happened before was to stay in the past. But since fate has brought us together again, maybe it’s a sign we’re meant to be friends 

Charmaine stayed silent. Their last meeting had been unexpected, a situation that had forced them to reveal their true selves to one another. 

Keon finished tending to Charmaine’s injury and offered her his hand with a friendly smile. “It’s nice to meet you, Ms. Nelson. I’m Keon James. I happened to pass by and helped you. Now, how about joining me for the welcome banquet?” 

Charmaine gave his hand a playful slap, her voice light but mocking, “Meeting me for the first time and you already know my last name?” 

Ten minutes later, Charmaine found herself following Keon to the venue. 

The banquet was being held at the Regal Tavern, one of Eragos’s most exclusive and hidden restaurants. 

Specializing in cuisine served in the palace, it catered only to a select group of members, with no entry allowed to the general public. Only those personally acquainted with the owner could dine here. 

Beyond the grand, aged wooden doors, a stunning garden unfolded–pavilions, terraces, flowing streams, and vibrant flowers, each corner more breathtaking than the last, as if crafted by an artist. 

Charmaine clicked her tongue in awe. “I’ve heard of this place for years. I always thought it was somewhere in the new city, where space is scarce. Never expected it to be tucked away in the old city. Restoring this building must have cost a fortune.” 

Keon smiled. “When they were choosing the location, they did extensive research. This place was once the home of a notable figure. The original architecture was preserved, and in the end, it became the perfect spot.” 

Charmaine shot him a sidelong glance. “You’re the owner, aren’t you? That’s why you know so much?” 

“Yes, I am,” Keon answered with a simple nod. 

Charmaine cursed inwardly, How stupid of me to ask a rich person such a direct question! 

As they rounded a corner, Charmaine suddenly stopped. “You go ahead. I’ll catch up after I use the

Three other young women stood behind her, sizing Charmaine up with judgmental eyes. 

One of them sneered, “Freya, who’s this? Someone you’ve had working for you?” 

Another teased, “Who else would get Freya’s attention? She must be from Mr. Emyr’s household…” 

A third added condescendingly, “She might be a pretty maid, but still a maid. She’s probably never even touched Mr. Emyr’s shoes. All these years, the only woman around Mr. Emyr has been Freya.
