Chapter 48
Henry took the card and inserted it into the computer that was connected to the large screen behind him.
Cries of “Henry” rang out as below the stage, the members of the Larson family began to feel anxious.
The guests were also confused and did not know what was going on.
“Henry!” Frowning, Harley rushed forward and Henry’s arm. “Don’t be rash! The video has nothing to do with what happened today.”
However, when he met Henry’s bleak eyes, he couldn’t help but be a little distracted.
“What happened to you?” he thought.
The memory card was being loaded.
Henry looked at Harley with regret in his eyes. “Harley, what’s the matter with us? How have we treated Maddie in the past eight months? Do you truly not feel any guilt? Blood also flows within her body, same as us!”
Harley took a deep breath and let go of his hand. “I know. Have you seen what’s in the card?” Henry shut his eyes and gritted his teeth as the video started to play.
Below, Layla and Thomas also looked at the screen, wondering what had happened last night. Curiosity filled Winslet’s eyes. She couldn’t remember anything about the night before.
The guests discussed amongst themselves as they immersed themselves.
Even the parents and elders of the Moore family were watching offstage. They wanted to see what trick the Larson family was playing.
At the beginning of the video, a group of men and women were frolicking in the reservoir.
The people below the stage found it slightly funny that so many people had been gathered to watch something like this, However, as time went by, lightning and thunder began to sound in the video as heavy rain poured down from the skies.
The scene felt unreal in the rain.
The water in the reservoir began to surge and ebb, and waves constantly slapped the edge.
Everyone in the room began to feel nervous.
Regina couldn’t help but grip Benjamin, who stood next to her, tightly. “Benjamin, last night…”
In the video, the inflatable boat turned over, and several people began to cry for help in the water.
Exclaiming in surprise, Regina’s face turned extremely pale.
The others began to worry about the people in the video.
Suddenly, a person pulled another figure to the shore.
Benjamin’s eyes turned red at the sight.
It was Madeline!

Chapter 48
She was so thin and weak, and no one expected her to have such great strength.
Although she was entirely soaked, her pale face still wore a resolute expression.

Benjamin was the first person to sink. When he was dragged ashore by Madeline, he was completely unconscious.
Benjamin suddenly lowered his head, unable to keep watching because he already knew the ending.
Regina was silent as a strange feeling crept into her heart.
Glancing sideways at her son, she tried to say something, but couldn’t in the end.
She saw that her son was hanging his head with tears in his eyes.
“Benjamin…”
In the video, Madeline resolutely jumped into the water again after saving Benjamin.
The water and the wind were unrelenting as they continued to batter down, and the thunder never ceased.
The water was like an abyss of deep beasts.
It was incredibly terrifying.
Countless people were touched by Madeline’s actions.
Some of the more kind–hearted people dared not continue watching the video.
Madeline was so very slender and thin.
However, she alone saved seven people after going back and forth seven times.
The final time Madeline pushed a person ashore, she was swept away by a wave and never emerged again.
Many of the people below the stage were already in tears.
“Oh, my goodness! Why did this happen?”
“Isn’t the girl Madeline?”
“She’s totally different from what the rumors say. Why is such a kind–hearted little girl so unlucky?”
A few of the older folk broke into tears.
Sounds of depressed and low sobbing rang from below the stage, and they were just strangers.
Benjamin staggered, raised his regretful eyes, then looked at his mother.
Regina said angrily, “Benjamin, this little girl…”
“Mom.” Benjamin shook his head with tears on his face and said in a low voice, “The banquet today can be canceled. She’s already dead. She’ll never come back again. Just like eight months ago, she saved me once again, but she was not as lucky this time… It’s all my fault. I was the one who organized it.” Benjamin felt sad. He raised his hand and grabbed the shirt on his chest, “I feel sorry for her. I don’t deserve such a good person
He bent his body, as if he were bearing a heavy stone.
Regina’s eyes also turned red. “Benjamin, you should feel for her. If she hadn’t gone to the reservoir, she would not have…”

Suddenly, the Moore family set aside their prejudice and dislike toward Madeline and respected the girl from the bottom of their hearts.
If it weren’t for her, Benjamin would have been gone.
However, she had saved so many people but couldn’t save herself!
Benjamin had been wrong.
Looking away, Regina said, “Since she is unofficially our daughter–in–law, we should also set out the prayer lamps for her.”
The people from the Larson family had mixed feelings.
Harley’s lips were trembling, making it difficult for him to speak
The search and rescue personnel were one thing, but they all saw everything with their own eyes.
He closed his eyes and felt guilty.
Obviously, Henry was too. He had already bent over and felt incredibly anguished.
Meanwhile, Jacob was in a trance. His noble and cold face had turned bloodless.
Joel was so ashamed that he couldn’t raise his head.
Lucas sat directly on the ground, covering his face, and cried bitterly, “Why didn’t I believe her words? Why didn’t I treat her better?”
Now, there was no longer a chance to do so.
Layla’s hands trembled. If Thomas hadn’t helped her, she would have been unable to stand upright.
She was so speechless that she found that she didn’t deserve to say anything.
She really didn’t deserve to be Madeline’s mother.
