Chapter 68 She Can Afford It

Cherry exclaimed. “Check it again.”

The clerk looked at her awkwardly and stammered. “I’ve checked it several times. It’s still 10 thousand short.”

Cherry’s face turned pale. She turned to look at Jane asking for help. “Mom, lend me some.”

Jane was embarrassed. Cherry pulled her out to go shopping, and she only brought a card. She had just given it to the manager, and now she had no money.

Seeing Jane shaking her head, Cherry took a deep breath and said to the clerk, “I’ll return some.”

Helen exclaimed when she heard this sentence. She covered her mouth with her fingers and said to Cynthia,

“I thought she had a lot of money.”

Cynthia smiled. “It’s normal that she doesn’t have enough money to buy all the clothes in a store.”

It was an explanation, but Cherry thought it was irony. Her face flushed red. How dared Cynthia, an illegitimate daughter laugh at her?

“Cynthia, can you afford it?” Cherry became annoyed. She pointed at the piles of shopping bags behind her

and said, “Can you afford these?”

Before Cynthia could speak, a cold male voice suddenly came from behind. “Yes, she can.”

“Cynthia, your man is here.” Seeing Alston, Helen tugged Cynthia’s arm and winked at her.

Cynthia ran up to Alston in surprise, and looked up at him. “Why are you here?”

“This shopping mall is owned by Smith Group. I’m here to inspect it today.” He looked at Cynthia’s excited

face.

Behind Alston was a group of people in charge of various departments of the mall.

They were a little surprised when they saw that Alston, who was indifferent and unapproachable just now, showed a doting smile on the woman in front of him.

“This is Mrs. Smith.” The manager of the mall behind Alston immediately recognized Cynthia. He had seen her at Buck’s banquet before and was deeply impressed by her.

Seeing the bags in Cynthia and Helen’s hands, the mall manager hurriedly took them over and asked them earnestly about their shopping experience.

Alston quickly pulled her into his arms and wrapped his hands around Cynthia’s waist to help her stand still.

Seeing Alston hugging Cynthia, Cherry suppressed the jealousy in her heart. She smiled sweetly. “Alston,

such a coincidence.”

Cynthia stood aside and watched Cherry pretend to be innocent in front of Alston on purpose.

“Miss Miller, it’s not a coincidence at all.” Standing behind Alston, his newly recruited assistant, Lloyd Evans said with a smile, “Mr. Smith knows Mrs. Smith is shopping here, so he comes here.”

After hearing this, Cherry’s face was full of embarrassment, but she was eager to get close to Alston. She said shamelessly, “We haven’t seen each other for a long time. I know there is a restaurant on the fourth floor. I would like to treat you to a meal, okay?”
