My Substitute CEO Bride (Nash Calicraft) novel Chapter 1974

Val sat in his office and took languid sips of his coffee.

Torah thumped a fist on the table, a murderous look in his eyes as he questioned Val vehemently, “Dude! What were you thinking? Do you know how many days are left until we’re supposed to pull off the plan? Why did you scare him off?”

Val blew away the steam rising from his coffee, a hint of a smile on his features as he said calmly, “Don't panic, Torah. He’ll come to his senses.”

“How long will we have to wait for, Val? I don’t want to wait for another ten years!” Torah roared, a look of discontent and resignation in his eyes.

Val got to his feet and thumped himself on the chest as he said with confidence, “Don’t worry, things will be a success this time."

Right then, someone walked in through the door.

“I don’t think so.”

Their guest seemed to be in his late 30s to 40s. He had on a black-colored military coat, and the long scar running across his right eye gave him a mean, vicious look.

Val and Torah turned to look at him.

Val asked, “Oh? What are your thoughts, Cormick?”

Cormick, the corp, used to be a five-star admiral. Now, he was the chief commander of a powerful mercenary team.

Cormick lit himself a cigarette and said calmly, “Val, don’t you find it odd?”

“What do you mean?”

“That’s enough. Stop playing the fool,” Cormick said as he exhaled a long puff of smoke.
