Chapter 20 

The project in Yrare had been under Neville’s management for nearly half a year. With construction about to commence, the fund of 600 million dollars for the project vanished. 

Although the Preston family was rich enough to handle this, this amount of money wasn’t negligible. Neville had to trace the whereabouts of the missing funds. 

That evening. Neville instructed Bernard to pack his baggage for an immediate departure. 

Bernard asked, “Mr. Preston, should we still keep an eye on Miss Guzman!” 

Neville’s handsome face turned icy. “If she wants to act recklessly, let her be.” 

During this period, she repeatedly challenged his boundaries, making him lose patience. 

“Perhaps Miss Guzman is just testing how important she is to you,” Bernard said. 

Neville sneered. “She miscalculated. I would never care about her.” 

When they had entered into their marriage, he had been explicit about his expectations. He made it clear that she was to play the role of Mrs. Preston and not to entertain any illusions beyond that. However, despite his warnings, she couldn’t help but fall for him. 

Neville and Bernard boarded a plane back to Norton. 

When Madison woke up, Jeremy was no longer by her side, leaving only a note, which read, “Mommy, I’ve left with Ariel. Remember to have breakfast.” 

She turned her head and saw two sandwiches on the table, with a handsome self–portrait drawn in ketchup. Clearly, it was made by Jeremy 

Although only five years old, Jeremy could take care of himself quite well. 

Madison suddenly realized that he had quietly grown up into a young adult, mature and considerate 

From now on, she wouldn’t miss any moment of his growth. 

After breakfast, Madison informed Ross to go to the airport. 

Ross had partied at the bar last night. He smelled of smoke and alcohol, with lipstick marks on his collar, looking like a carefree playboy.

“When some people give up, they won’t come back. If she is disappointed, you might lose her,” Madison said. 

Ross lazily glanced at her and said, “Madison, I’m not as heartless as Neville, and Hazel isn’t as foolish as you 

Madison smiled. She was indeed naive. Knowing Neville didn’t love her, she still chose to love him unconditionally, turning these three years into a joke. 

Seeing her like this, Ross regretted poking at her pain. He patted her shoulder to console her. “It’s okay, Madison. After you leave Neville, I will take you to have fun. I promise you’ll enjoy every night.”

Madison rolled her eyes at him 

After arriving at the airport, Madison felt as if someone was watching her from behind. When she turned around, she didn’t find anyone suspicious 

Watching Madison and Ross leave, Jeremy finally walked out of the cafe with Ariel. 

Ariel couldn’t help but ask, “Jeremy, if you’re so reluctant to leave Mommy, why not say goodbye in person?” 

Jeremy sniffled and said, Tm afraid Mommy will cry. 

Every separation from Madison was painful for him, but Jeremy didn’t want Madison to be sad, so he would just see her off silently. 

Ariel ruffled Jeremy’s little head and said, “You’re so considerate.” 

Jeremy looked at the departing plane and silently vowed that he would stay with Ariel on Warcana Island as he promised and waited for Madison to visit him. 

Even if she was busy, he could actively find her. 

No one was allowed to separate him from Madison from now on.

When Neville arrived at the city hall, it was already eleven o’clock. He immediately spotted the woman in a light green dress standing under the shade, looking charming and gentle. 

She walked over when she saw him and said, “I thought you would change your mind.”

Neville looked down at her and said. “Madison, you think highly of yourself. I’ve always kept my word. Make sure you’ve thought it through.”
