“Grandpa...is that true?”
The desperate voice of Sarah Gray comes from the door. Grandfather Gray, Lucien Gray and Nina Morrison all turn to look at the doorway.
Sarah Gray shakes like an aspen leaf. Her pretty face is so pale and bloodless. She is staring at Grandfather Gray blankly.
Nina Morrison and Lucien Gray look at each other with some apprehension.
They don’t expect Sarah to come back suddenly and hear her life experience.
She has always been proud of her identity as the daughter of Gray Family. Now, her dignity and pride are crushed to powder mercilessly. Can she bear such a strike?
“Sarah, listen to me...” Lucien Gray releases Nina Morrison and walks over to Sarah Gray, trying to calm her down.
“Go away!” Sarah Gray pushes Lucien Gray away, points him on the nose and yells, “I don't need your mercy! Don’t pretend to care about me!”
Seeing Lucien Gray is scolded, Nina Morrison walks over, and holds his arm. She wants to help him comfort Sarah Gray.
“Sarah, you must be clear how well your brother treat you. Isn’t it a little harsh for you to say that?”
Sarah Gray breaks out in tears after a long struggle and sneers, “Nina Morrison! You must have enjoyed the theatre, haven’t you? I’m not the daughter of Gray Family, I’m a bastard! You must be very happy?”
“Enough!” Grandfather Gray suddenly shouts loudly, “Sarah Gray! Shut up!”
Grandfather Gray has that kind of stateliness without being angry. If he becomes angry, everyone could feel the threatening atmosphere.
Sarah Gray freezes, then she covers her face and bursts into tears.
“Sarah, you are so disrespectful Do you know that Lucien fall out with his father to keep you? Lucien’s father has stayed in America for 20 years. Do you think he’s just hiding from your mother? He did it to avoid you!”
