Mysterious Little Wife novel Chapter 55

Her tone was domineering.

Sophia's face had darkened to the point of ink.

She was no animal, so why should she follow Lacey's orders?

"Who do you think you are!" Sophia shrieked and flung a nearby doll at Lacey.

Instead of dodging, Lacey caught the doll dead on.

"You're nothing more than a used sack. What could a sc*mbag like you possibly teach me? Seducing men?" Sophia scowled, raising her eyebrows. "Does the daughter of a wealthy family even need such skills?"

She then muttered, "Who do you think you are?"

Lacey remained silent throughout. She gave nothing but a standard smile.

"What are you smiling at?"

Sophia couldn't help but frown at the sight of Lacey's smile. She couldn't read what was going through her mind.

"It's getting late. Where is your room? I want to get some rest!" Lacey stood up and got straight to the point.

"What? You want to sleep in my room?" Sophia's eyes widened in disbelief.

"If I'm not mistaken, your father has instructed me to eat, sleep and go to school with you, hasn't he?" Lacey grinned as she raised her brows.

"Have you lost your mind? Don't you have any idea how filthy you are! What makes you think I'd let you sleep in my room?" Sophia shrieked. Gradually, the look in her eyes turned to disdain. "Besides, there's no telling how many days it's been since you've had a bath," she added.

Meanwhile, as if oblivious to Sophia's shouts, Lacey walked up to one of the servants and asked, "Which floor is her room on? Which room is it?"

The servant's eyes darted back and forth between Lacey and Sophia. He hesitated for a moment.

It was clear that he was afraid to answer her question.

Lacey nodded, seeming to understand the servant's difficulty, and decided not to push him. "It's fine, I'll ask Theo myself."

Others might not tell her, but that would not be the case with Theo.

Sophia tensed as soon as she heard Lacey mention going to Theo, as though a hedgehog detecting danger. "Who are you to go looking for Theo?" she yelled as she hurriedly blocked Lacey's path. "You want to seduce him, don't you? What an unashamed woman!"

"Do I look that easy to bully?" Lacey lifted her chin. Her smile was a ruthless one.

Yet, Sophia hadn't realized what was going on. She sneered, "What's the matter? Can't catch your tongue? Don't you recognize your status by now? It's best if you back off while you still can. Otherwise—"

Sophia didn't continue her sentence and instead offered a warning look.

Lacey's smile had all but vanished by this point.

Her eyes grew cold as she stared at the arrogant girl.

Just then, a glint of mockery crossed her eyes, and she raised her hand.

"Pa!"

Sophia was slapped across the face. Lacey was so quick that she hadn't managed to dodge.

Although Lacey appeared indifferent on the outside, the truth was that she had given in to Sophia many times.

Why did she have to keep testing her patience!

Those about to leave heard the sound and were startled by what they saw.

Sophia had forgotten to cover her face. She was in a state of shock.

The servants opened their mouths wide as if they had seen something horrific.

Meanwhile, the perpetrator smiled faintly and said innocently, "Who do I think I am? Well, why don't you ask yourself the same question instead? Who do you think you are?"

Sophia was at a loss for words.

"While you despise mistresses for being shameless, there is one in charge of disciplining you now. Does that indicate that you are more shameless than a mistress?" Lacey sneered.

Eyes widening in shock, Sophia froze in place.

Still, Lacey wasn't about to let her go just like that. "True, I was raised in the country. But why should you assume a country girl like me is filthy while you are the only clean one? The scents of various perfumes surround you, yet did you know that a mixture of scents like this is often off-putting?"

Sophia was overwhelmed by embarrassment at this point.

"Also, in case you're wondering, I'm 5'6" tall and weigh 99 pounds." Lacey brushed her hair back.

"You dare to hit me!" Sophia snapped back after a brief pause. She was furious and wanted to return the slap.

Lacey, on the other hand, caught hold of her hand just as her slap was about to land.

She then yanked Sophia over, causing Sophia to fall in her direction.

Sophia fell in a position where her head was close to Lacey's shoulder.

Lacey, her lips close to Sophia's ears, whispered, "Besides, don't you think you're more disgusting than I am? I mean, how could you like Theo? He's your cousin, after all, isn't he?"

Sophia, Froze, forgot to struggle.

"What are you guys doing?" Suddenly, Sam's voice could be heard from afar.

Lacey let go of Sophia quickly. She stood up straight and wrapped her arms around Sophia's shoulders before turning around. "We're just chatting. Is that right, Sophia?"

Sophia tilted her head to look at Lacey. She was in a trance and couldn't think of anything to say.

"That's great! After all, we're all going to be family, and families are supposed to be peaceful and loving." Theo smiled as he walked forward.

Sam, on the other hand, remained emotionless. His deep dark eyes swept over Sophia's expression.

He could tell she was at a disadvantage.

Then again, who could win against Lacey, such a cunning woman?

"Lacey, are you tired? Which room will you be staying in tonight? Why don't you stay next to me? There's plenty of room in Aunt Tilly's house." Theo hastily suggested.

Theo and Sam had just finished talking business with their parents, who had gone upstairs via the lift to rest.

"It's all right. Uncle Alvaro told me to stay with Sophia. Besides, Sophia had invited me over as well. Isn't that right, Sophia?" Lacey shifted her gaze to her side. Her grasp on Sophia's shoulder tightened.

With the pain coming from her shoulder, Sophia snapped back to her senses.

The corner of her mouth twitched as she looked at Sam and Theo. "I-I have to go to school tomorrow. I'm pretty sleepy. I'm going to bed."

She dashed upstairs immediately after that.

Meanwhile, Lacey hadn't looked at Sam since the beginning. Instead, she turned to Theo and motioned with her hand, saying, "Theo, you, too, should get some rest. I'm off to bed now."

With that, she swaggered up the stairs alongside Sophia.

Theo was delighted at the sight. "Sam, don't you think my darling is adorable?" He hurried over to Sam and smiled silly.

"Your darling?" Sam repeated the sentence, a look on his face.

Feeling embarrassed, Theo scratched his head. "Don't worry. I'll do everything in my power to make her mine one day!"

A sneer flashed in Sam's narrow eyes. He said meaningfully, "You need to get some rest. It's been a long day!"

"Okay!" Theo did not object.

Meanwhile, on the third floor—
