"Hey..." Pearl was quite startled.
His lips came down fiercely on her, seemingly wanting to crush her into pieces. There was no pity, nor was there any love.
Pearl's hands were firmly grasped by him.
The drug started to take effect on Richard's body, and the boiling blood stirred up all of his emotions. Now Richard'd lost all of his rationality. He couldn't even control himself.
He still remembered that night from seven years ago vividly. However, after that night, Pearl disappeared from this city without a trace.
Thinking of that particular night, Richard's dark eyes lit up with a layer of burning fire. The force he exerted with his hands was getting out of control under the drug's stimulation.
Then her dress was torn apart.
Pearl's scream was stuck in her throat. The next second, she was thrown onto the bed of the hotel.
"Clang." It was the sound of a leather belt unbuckling.
Pearl's mind went blank. She gripped the bedsheet beneath her and wanted to struggle. However, Richard used merely one hand to hold her down, pinning her to the bed. She couldn't move at all.
Pearl's face turned ashen the moment her dress was torn apart.
At the same time, the guests were having a good time in the hall.
Ethan wandered among a group of relatives and elders of the Louise family, listening to the same strict lectures ever since he was a child. His mind and body had grown numb towards the teachings, but he still kept a polite and indifferent smile on his face.
Quite a few people advised him to give up his career as a doctor and to take over the family business. But in fact, no one truly hoped that he would return.
He had seen enough of this ever since he was a child. Human nature was fickle.
Eventually, it was time to cut the cake in celebration. Ethan squeezed out of the crowd. The butler caught up from behind, asking: "They're about to blow the candles now. Why are you leaving, young Mr. Louise?"
"There are already so many people lining up to give their regards. It wouldn't be any less without me."
"Madam loves you the most. She may feel disappointed if you didn't pay much attention to her birthday."
The butler had watched as Ethan grew up, and he was like a family member to Ethan.
Frowning, he said: "I was just going to look for Pearl. She went upstairs to have a rest just now. Mom likes her so it'd be better if she's here."
"That's right. Mr. Louise, you're much more mature than before." The butler smiled.
Before leaving, Ethan looked around the hall, but he didn't see Richard.
He was a bit confused. It was still early now. No matter how early he wanted to leave, he should wait until the end of the celebration.
Ethan didn't bother to think about it. After getting into the elevator, he took out the spare room card from his pocket and glanced at the room number.
With a "ding", the elevator stopped on the 36th floor.
As soon as the elevator door opened, he heard a voice coming from the corridor on the right side.
"Why can't you find him? He was only gone for a while. He must still be in the hotel."
