"Thank you."
Although Pearl thanked Richard, he had no intention to let her go. Pearl gritted her teeth and struggled. Then a cold voice rang her ears, "There are so many people here. Are you planning to tell everyone the truth that I'm not your fiance?"
She froze and stopped.
Gossip was a terrible thing, especially when it came from your relatives and friends. Earlier, she felt like a century had passed when everyone was criticizing her, and she never wanted to experience it again.
The stalemate lasted for a while before Richard let go of her.
Pearl was taken aback. But she still whispered, "Thank you."
"So you're not planning to explain about the kids?"
Pearl's heart skipped a beat. But she forced herself to sound calm. "Explain what?"
Richard studied her carefully and said word by word, "Brandon said that I'm his father."
Pearl's pupils suddenly contracted. She took a step back.
"What are you afraid of?" Richard's eyes were fixated on her.
"They have nothing to do with you." Pearl blurted out with a lower voice. She tried to sound convincing. However, it came out clumsy and awkward with her pale face.
The air went still. The hall was noisy and the music was loud, but she still could hear her heartbeat.
Richard wanted to question her more but an old man's voice suddenly joined, "Mr. Zellweger."
It was Pearl's father.
After chatting with the relatives, Anthony finally had time to meet this 'son-in-law' who appeared out of the blue.
That was right. Who did this?
Pearl suddenly realized this problem. No matter how bold the twins were, it was impossible for them to attend the birthday party themselves. So there must be someone who has brought them here.
Evelina's face froze. She avoided Richard's gaze with a guilty conscience.
Richard concluded harshly, "I asked Brandon and he said that his aunt take him here."
His aunt?
Pearl looked to her sister. Even though she had guessed it, she was still very disappointed when the truth was out for Evelina was her true sister.
Hearing this, Anthony's face darkened.
