Richard's words made Pearl stunned. Her eyes and brows dropped as she avoided his gaze instantly.
"It's not."
Although it sounded very simple, her denial was not very convincing.
"Is it not?"
"Of course not." Pearl pursed her lips and looked up after a second of hesitation. "It doesn't matter why I left seven years ago. You're getting married soon, and I have my own career. We both have our own lives now and no one's holding each other back. Why are you asking so many questions?"
This was how the world worked. Life goes on no matter who leaves. You don't need to dwell on the past.
"No one's holding each other back?" Richard's eyes turned cold, with emphasis on each word.
Pearl's heart clicked. She noticed the anger in his eyes, her face became stiff. She wanted to say something to explain but failed. She remained silent.
Both of them knew that it was meaningless to reminisce about the past. Seven years was too long. How many seven years were there in this lifetime?
Even though the incident seven years ago was just a misunderstanding, so what?
Would they want to disturb the stable lives they currently had now? Do you want to overthrow and start all over again?
The air in the emergency room ward was freezing. Pearl couldn't even breathe under Richard's cold gaze. A tight pressure was squeezing her.
Finally, the doctor came back and gave her a shot. "Okay, you can go back now. Remember not to use this hand. Don't touch water, and you have to apply medication on it daily."
"Ok." Pearl was a doctor herself. She was also very clear about the doctor's reminder.
As they left the hospital, Richard was walking in front of her.
"Um..." Pearl hesitated for a moment and said, "I'll go back to the crew first. You must still be busy. Thank you."
Richard didn't look back, leaving a cold sentence, "Pack up your things and go to the garage in ten minutes."
The instructions made Pearl stunned. Before she could spoke, Richard had already left.
Did that mean he was driving her home?
Pearl grabbed her bag and left, after she told the crew members.
They were guilted that their female lead was the cause of Pearl's injury.
Before leaving, Evelina's assistant hurried, "Dr. Yonng, I'm really sorry about today! Evelina didn't mean it. Please don't take it to heart!"
"She probably doesn't even care if I take it to the heart or not, right?"
"How is that possible?" Josie, Evelina's assistant, smiled apologetically. She looked around and confirmed that there was no one nearby, and said in a low voice, "I know Evelina is your own sister. How could she possibly want to harm you?"
Pearl looked cold, even a little indifferent. "
She would have thought the same way in the past. Evelina was her sister. No matter how much it went, it was a child behavior. It was like when her sister had taken her toy when they were young. She would never really hated Pearl in her heart.
But, recent events changed her thoughts.
Her sister had grown up and had her own ideas. They had not met each other for seven years and they were not close. She can't investigate the reason. Now things had developed into an unsalvageable situation. Finally, she decided to give up.
"Don't worry. I won't tell anyone about what happened today." Pearl looked at Josie.
Evelina asked Josie to talk to her in such a hurry. It was definitely not because she wanted to apologize, she just worried that the things had happened earlier would leak to the public, making bad influence on her.
